Default HFP Body Kit / Areo Kit - Can you GLUE / EPOXY it to the car?

It's common knowledge that the Honda HFP body / areo kit attaches with double sided adhesive on the top and screws to the bottom of the bumpers.

Also after 12 months the warranty is up. Time, cold weather, car washes, etc all begin to damage the adhesive strips. Then the kit slowly detaches from the car. Maybe just one corner but if you look at kits on pervious generation civics you will notice that they don't look that great and some look like they hang off the car by 1 / 2 inch!

I know there is some epoxy you mix 50/50 and it creates a bond that has to be much stronger then the sticky tape. Also you could use windshield glue which I think will hold very well. I just don't know how easy it would be to get it right and not make a complete mess.

Has anyone used an epoxy to attach the HFP kit to the car?

Pros/Cons?

Other ideas for attaching the HFP Aero kit?

I have had nothing but trouble with my hfp lip kit they put it on right in front of me then i took off i guess it didn't dry properly because a few days later the side skirts where coming off the front passengers side lip was coming off it was frustrating. I took it back they stripped the side skirts off put new double sided tape on so it looked good for a week or 2 but now they need to fix them again so i am hoping they order me new side skirts and start from scratch. I would wonder if an epoxy would damage the paint if it was that strong i think a strong double sided tape would work very well along with a heat gun to assure a good contact.

do NOT use epoxy.

epoxy bonds together 2 surfaces/materials.

what you want is something like the before mentioned windshield resin.

it holds, doesnt bond.

Dont use epoxy!

I'd highly recommend using 3m Automotive Acrylic Plus Attachment tape

Part number 06382...

This is basically the same exact stuff that comes on the lips/skirts but more heavy duty. Make sure you clean the area very well with rubbing alcohol before you put the new tape on... also heat up the tape with a hair dryer right before you put it on the lip

I'm not sure if someone already started a thread about this. So I'm just going to ask my question here.

I want to know how much you guys paid for the HFP aero kit if you guys didn't buy it w/ the car. I'm looking at HandA, collegehill and hondaaccessory right now. I believe the cheapest shipped to my house is $1,226 or so. But my dealership told me that they can get it for me installed for $1,300. Do you guys think that's a good deal? If you guys know anywhere that might sell the kit for cheaper, please let me know. Thanks.

If I were u, I'd defenitely go with the dealer installed..only like 70 bucks to save u time on the installation...and you get WARRANTY!! from the dealer..but it might be if you get it at time of purchase..i'm not sure about that...but it's a pain in the neck, so I would let the dealer handle it..

I think it's a great deal. You should probably leave it to the dealership to handle the installation as they usually know the car better than anyone else. Including YOU.

Well the 200bucks/hr changes quite a bit depending where you live and where you go. The mechanic's salary depends a lot on the cost of living where you live, in exemple; it will be much cheaper in humm lets say Alaska then in NYC or LA because the cost of living is also much cheaper so they don't have to pay their mechanics as much..
