Basic info about the car 92 Honda Civic LX SDN 5 SPD D16Y8 swap.
I had the car running fine the other day. Now two days later I have no spark to the engine. I tested my cylinder 1 spark plug on the valve cover and tryed to start the car. No spark coming out of plug. The engine is recieving fuel. IT has no CEL codes on the P06 Computer but on my P28 it has CEL (My v-tec solenoid and pressure switch arent hooked). So no CELS . I just bought a new battery. Starter got tested about 2 weeks ago at disconut auto parts works fine. The engine cranks but wont turn over. What can be causing no spark? THE only timing off is my distributor timing. I need to get my car started to get it checked out by a shop.
ALSO I have a noise knocking sound pretty loud on the head they told me it could be a clogged valve or bad seal ? Does this sound right>? I had spun a rod on my B7 and the noise it made was much louder then the noise my car is producing now. The motor just got swapped in and was running before fine. THE cam timing was never touched. only timing off is distributor timing. So do i have something in the head messed up?

my guess is the coil is bad inside the distributor. this creates your high energy spark. pull the cap and rotor off, get the dust shield out of the way and undo the two wires on the coil which are held on with small screws. (they are very tight so be carefull not to strip them.) btw, the coil is the one with the spring at the end of a plastic protrution. once you get the wires undune (and not switched) undo the two screws that hold the coil to the housing (again careful, they are tight and easy to strip). then do the reverse to put it back together.
you're done, try to crank it.

did you take the dizzy cap off and look to make sure the rotor is turning when you crank the engine over? if its not a broken timing belt , id guess its definitely a dizzy prolem.

umm nah the timing belt isnt broken... and can someone answer my question as far as using parts from my y8 distributor to put inside my b7 for example the coil?

nah the distributor coil is over 10 years old..so if it went out i consider regular maintenace (sp?) also i already had my engine started and drove it around it idle just fine but it the noise increases as i go

Up anyways anyone else have any other input as far as the noise in my head ? Also im in the process of removing the coil but that damn phillips head screw on the rotor cap is on there pretty good
lol, omg....some people just shouldn't be working on cars.....how did you test to see if you had spark? Did you check the other cylinders? or just the 1? and cranny what the hell would the timing belt being broken have to do with the car putting out spark? Is it a knocking sound or a clicking sound? Clicking sounds can be many things, loose spark plug, loose accesory mount, loose rocker arms, worn camshaft. Knocking (like knocking on a door) is rod, main, or thrust bearings, or a cracked flywheel or flexplate depending on the transmission.

its more like a clicking a sound. I tested only on cylinder one . I took out spark plug left it on wire and placed the spark plug on the valve cover and no sparks came out
