Daily driven Edelbrock Victor X vs. ITR manifold questions
I'm thinking about swapping out my Type R intake manifold for a Victor X before my next tune, but I'm wondering if my money would be better spent elsewhere. It's strictly a street car. I currently have B16A cams, and it seems like they're the least desirable. Should I upgrade cams and get cam gears, or get the manifold? By the way, I also have Inline Pro valve springs and titanium retainers and rev to 9000.
Another thing, since ITR/CTR cams seem to be the best, obviously they're expensive and/or used. Are there any good aftermarket cams?

itr cams will do a very good job of it. even gsr's if you have no other funds or options. i run gsrs in my lsvtec motor. a while back i swapped in a jdm sirII b16 intake cam and my car felt like a dog, it made a huge difference. **** i even noticed it in the a/f with the ve going down and the car not requireing as much fuel
leave the manifold, upgrade the cams and retune

You really noticed a huge difference between B16 and GSR? Sorry for the newb question, but I've never thought about cam gears before. Do you use them, and are they necessary if you swap cams?

what are you power goals? manifold is most likely not worth it... neither are the cams for that matter... you can get GSR cams for cheap and they make good power.

I've already dumped too much money into this thing.

400whp would be nice, but I'm not sleeved, so I have to be careful. I think you're right about the GSR cams for the money.

For some reason I thought that ITR cams were really expensive. I found some for $250, but how can you be sure that they're good? Are there any businesses selling ITR cams that have been inspected?
Thanks, I looked but they didn't have very good prices. What about these on Ebay?

Here are the part numbers:
14111-PCT-000 - intake
14121-P73-J00 - exhaust (same part number as 00-01 USDM ITR)
Does anyone know the difference between this intake cam and an 01 ITR intake?
Also, who has the best prices on new ITR cams?

Intakes move the powerband around, cams increase power in addition to moving the powerband. Gsr and especially ITR/CTR cams have much more lift/duration than your b16a cams, while the manifold doesn't do much other than slightly increasing upper-rpm volumetric effeciency. In your case you already have a great manifold, but 'crappy' cams, so most gains can come from the cams. You wouldn't run a sleeved motor on a 1 5/8" stock exhaust, so don't run an ITR mani on stock cams with profiles designed almost 20 years ago.

not necessary, i think all b series cams are degreed the same( i think). i used stock gears on my gsr cams in b16 head. i have skunk camgears that im gonna use for next year though
ohh i run a sleeved block with a stock exhaust, until i open the e cutout for open downpipe street action

I might as well get the cam gears. Why go half assed at this point?
By the way, are the cops that strict in New York? Why the stock exhaust?

depending on where you go the cops can be real annoying, but its no where near as bad as i think cali is for example.
stock exhaust so that i have a lil sleeper effect going on, to try to avoid theft(again).
i also live in a small town and if i come home late at night i almost always drive by a cop hiding out who would like nothing more than to pull me over for a loud exhaust

Sorry to hear about your car getting stolen. I hope the insurance took care of you. Cops around here don't mess with you for a loud exhaust, just window tint.
