Default IS300/Altezza Tail Conversion on a 4th Gen?

I've been thinking of doing this for a while now, and really want to get this done. The only thing is that I haven't been able to find any pictures of anyone else that's done it to their 4th gen 'lude!

I'm thinking of converting the OEM lights to the outter IS300 triangular lights. I wouldn't be putting the trunk reflectors, as I find they look like ****.

Can anyone help me find a pic of this conversion?

I've seen it on the 4th gen and the results were excellent. A guy was selling his Prelude it on AbsolutePrelude.com, but the site went down and the thread was lost. I always disliked the 4th gen tail lights -- like I disliked the 5th gen headlights. The IS300 taillights on the 4th gen looked really good and "natural".

I don't see how you can get a more "natural" look than with the stock tail lights. Looking at pictures, I am skeptical of how well they will look. But then again, I love the stock look of the prelude. If someone could come up with a picture, that'd be cool.

By "Natural", it looked stock, OEM, whatever. NOT contrived, forced, Altezza'd. The forward rake provided by the IS300 lights, actually make the the rear taillights looked proportionately sized for the 4th gen Prelude.

The fit is better than I expected, but not great. I'm not a fan...

But do what you want, its a way to be 'different'

for some reason, after staring at the rear of the current TL, i think TL tails would work on the 4th gen.

Actually, what I'd be doing is getting these taillights, which are made by DEPO (I love LED tail lights!) and fit them to my prelude...

Then I'd have the tai lights cherried (making the outer lense red) to give them that OEM, yet modified look, as I have done to once-gay altezzas...

I was trying to find a more unique conversion, as the R33 tail conversion is getting pretty common, and I'm having a hard time picturing any other tail conversion, other than the IS300.

I love how the IS300 tails look a lot like the OEM tails, yet wrap around the rear 1/4 panels a lot more and give off that highly modded look at the same time.

Thanks for the example picture and the feedback guys!

I tried picturing that aswell, I even had a set of TL tails placed in front of the OEM tails to see how they might look, and the TL tails are simply too big and basically take up most of the 'lude rear-end, making everything look too cramped and killing the oem lines totally.

^ I really like the looks of the cherried lenses.

IMO, the clear lensed tail lights look much better on light colored cars, on blue or black it's just an eyesore.

I think s2k tails would look better if you are gonna go through all the trouble.

i guess those tails of an altezza are alright..if they werent clear

the tl lights dont fit the body lines at all

i think you should just stay with prelude taillights...

you wanna make you lude look cool...make the body straight and get a high-quality paint job

High quality paint job + straight body = Done ages ago

I've looked into the TSX tail lights, they'll fit pretty easily, but I'm not sure how they'd look on the Prelude.
