jacket over the brake reservoir. Whats it do?
Sorry for the noob question but, whats the purpose of that elastic band over the brake reservoir? I've seen it many times and I'm dying to know what it is.

For looks.
I've never had one and I've never spilt any fluids, lol.
People will say that they serve a purpose, but they really don't.

having a sleve wont really "prevent" the fluids from spilling, they will just soak it up if it happens... that way fluids dont get all over your bay...
plus its an excuse to get uber JDm tyte Mugen or Spoon socks, or even better... spongebob.

it was already stated, in the event of a spill it soaks up the spilled fluids.
but what its really from their circuit cars. if anyone here owns or maintains a race car, you'll know that you need to keep your motor 110% minty clean. that way in the event of a leak you can easily pin point it since your motor is already squeeky clean. sometimes you have minutes to fix it, sometimes you have an hour or so between qualifying sessions. if you spill while doing a pit stop during an endurance event and it drips down you'll have brake fluid or clutch fluid down ony our under carriage and know idea how it got there, when in actuality it spilled from your reservoir. if you can soak up that fluid and you STILL have a leak you can rule out the reservoir since the sock soaked it up. i also believe that the socks are typically non flammable as well to aid in the event that a spill does happen...well you know. but thats the REAL truth to socks.
