Default D15Z1

I'm thinking about what would be the best head to put on a d15z1 a d15b, d16y8, or a d16z6? I'm going to turbo my VX so I am going to try and do a mini me with my block w/ a si/ex tranny and p28 ecu. Which head with my block would have the highest compression?

when do a mini me with the d15z1 pistons compression is around 8:1...low, low , low.

from what I understand you are opening a can of worms trying to put a new head and gaining power on the D15Z1.

people have some success with straight up boost of the stock Z1

i'll post a link up for you if i run across one

if you're going to swap heads and transmissions, just do it all at once, and either swap pistons, or get a d15b7 or something.

whatever, dont listen to andrew bense, he knows NOTHING. j/k, yeah, dont do a mini-me on the z1 w/out a piston swap, it will net a VERY VERY low compression ratio that would take MASSIVE amounts of tuning (lots of timing out of boost) to even get out its own way.

my vote, BUY A D15B vtec, your car is a vx, so its plug and play. then boost if you need to.

definately swap the tranny though.

ALL THIS COMING FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH THE Z1.

Wow! Are you sure it had a rear axle? When did honda go to independent rear suspension? Just the plain ole d15b is vtec. It's a JDM model. It's very similar to a d16z6. If he's going to give you the motor, you should take it and maybe do a stock rebuild on it or better yet put some forged goodies in there!

only USDM d15 with vtec is teh z1, and its no good.

AND ALL JDM D15B VTEC MOTORS ARE NOT THE 3STAGE VTEC, ONLY THE 96+ ARE. everytime a thread mentions d15b vtec you bring up the 3stage.

well, considering the block on ALL the 3 stage vtec motors is a Y style block with an oil pump mounted dipstick means they where produced LATE 1995 and sold as 1996 models. so.
