i haven't seen the ecu it's just something someone posted in my for sale thread on a local forum. i'm not familiar with the internals of ecu's but it seems simple enough. is something like this fixable or could there be other problems?

"i have one with a busted diode in it you can HAVE... it idles funny and at about 4k RPM (steady at 4k) it revs to about 4200 then drops to 3800 and so on... replace the diode and its good to go... how to do that i dont know. i tryed and i tryed and its not working for me.. but if you want it you can have it...
i think it has something to do with the IAC but im not sure.."

it all depends on what the problem with it is. If the person that has it currently doesn't know what's wrong with it, yet says that it's just a diode... something in the back of my head twitches when I read things like that.
4k rev limiter typically means bad chip job, but it could also mean there is a problem in the power supply or logic circuits. I've seen some odd things happen.
It may be repairable if you know what you're doing and can get values from an existing good ECU.
It can also be used as parts. Depending on which ECU it is, I might be interested in it for parts.
