Default Vortech SC SI (Please Help)

Hello, I have a 1999 Civic Si.
50,000 miles.
Vortech Supercharger 6 psi
APEXI VAFC
DC Headers
DC Exhaust
AEM Big Brakes

Here is the issue: I feel that the vortech is not giving me the power that i need, it comes to high at 6 thousand rpm and it doesent feel all that fast, of course it is faster, but it doesent reward the 5,000 dollar investment. How can i get more power, upgrading to a 8lbs pulley or 10lbs, making the revrange broader up to 8500 rpm. or overall what du u guys suggest me doing?

You should have done research before you dumped $5000 into this. Centrifugal superchargers are the worst of both worlds: RPM-dependant boost production and parasitic losses due to mechanical linkage. Had you realized this before wasting your money, you could have a badass turbo setup right now.

Putting a bigger pulley on the supercharger will help top end, but you'll see decreasing returns the lower you go in the rev-band. Centrifugal superchargers develop boost relative to the RPM. For example, your SC might be making 6psi at 8000RPM, but it's only making 3psi at 4000RPM and 1.5psi at 2000RPM.

You can get it tuned professionally and that would surely free up some more power, but overall, you fucked yourself when you bought this instead of a turbo setup. With half the money invested in that SC you could have twice the power, better gas mileage and a car that's much more fun to drive.

It's never too late...

yeah, you kinda screwed yourself. if you wanted to go SC, you should've at least bought a roots style blower(Jackson Racing). you really don't have any options if you want to make some decent power with that motor, especially with the type of blower you chose.

All I have to say is:

I'll still never understand a supercharged Honda 4cly other than the F20C...

Ok here is the thing. I bought the car with the current setup, i used to drive a stock Si, but then i bought this black si, with the setup that i mentioned. So all in all, i should SELL the vortech kit and buy either a greddy or a jackson right? I want something reliable, boosting 8 psi on a greddy or jackson with good tuning would be safe i guess...so yeah...im deciding to sell the vortech ive done enough research now to know all the negatives on a vortech, but the 5,000 us dollars invested on the car did not come off my pocket. I actually got the car at a very good price for the milage and equipment it has...to bad it wasnt another setup, but ill change it along the road.

In that case, sell the supercharger and get a nice turbo setup. With good tuning it'll be more fun and more safe than any SC kit on the market.
