Default H23 Questions

Alright, Well i have a 92 Prelude Si with the H23.

I am considering running Nitrous and/or Turbo. I was on Crower's website last night and i couldnt figure out what Camshaft/Retainers i should get.

Also, id like to get maybe 1000 more usable RPM. Thanks.

First get more compression, then fix the header and exhaust then cet ANY cam from Crower/Delta/Webcams. Your stock cams make virtually NO power past 5300rpm. OEM H23 cams' Torque curve drops like a brick after 5200.

I have something that is a lot like an H23. I am running Crower H23 stage 3 all motor cams and RM valvetrain. I got 200whp 183wtq with peak power at 6500. Click the link in my sig for detailed setup with before-and-after-cams dyno(s) and other links to my build thread.

aight 2.2, i will look at his stuff. Someone on pp.com said cams do like nothing.. idiot..

*edit*

I have I/H/E

From reading your thread.. to get 200hp and 180+wtq, i just need the stage 3 crower cams and retainers? Obviously a good tune as well right?

Now since im a noob with this, would i get more usable RPM as well, as you said it drops likea brick after 5300 (and i feel it whenever i do go past it). How much more usable RPM am i getting? and should i get Cam gears as well?

only cams? no. It is quite the hybrid motor. Using parts from a few other motors.

dude, freaking stop being lazy and read the thread. You will no EVERYTHING about his build after reading it.

DC header w/ 2.5" collector and dented down pipe
Custom 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust
Crower Stage 3 nonVTEC cams
RM springs/retainers
Adjustable cam gears
MSD SCI ignition w/ Blaster SS coil (dyno proven to be good for 1.5hp *everywhere*)

I read.. The only other motor is see listed is the F23.. unfortunatly i cant go through other motors.. just my H23 and parts to order online. I read the WHOLE thread man. It also kinda sucks i couldnt see the dynos. i did see somethat were posted below.

There's a little more in my modifications list than what you posted. We-Todd-Did-racing image host is currently down so that's why the pics don't show. I suppose that there should be one more thing on that list and that would be the tuning that I did on the chipped P28.

If you want to throw some large cams into your motor with nothing else then go for it. But don't bother asking me for much assistance when you did not do your homework before doing so.

located in his first post of his build..

Yah but i cant take pistons from another moter. there are no 4g/5g's in the junkyards. so i was wondering what pistons i should order online. All i want to know is what i should buy online, once i have a list of things i need i will research how everything is done. i just wanted a list to see what i need.

I did alot of reading last night.. i know there is def. alot more to learn but this is what i got down so far.

F22 Rods
H22 Pistons
F23 Crankshaft
Crower Stage 3 Camshafts + Retainters
Adjustable Cam Gears

along with those id probably end up getting another intake manifold. the one thing i am having a hard time locating is the F23 crankshaft...

Good. Then you can hog out the head's combustion chambers to make clearance for the pistons' .060" interference fit into the aluminum.

I've got a similar question, although its for an F23.

I planned on using crower F23 rods, wiseco k24 pistons (87mm, 10.5:1). Possibly the RM cam and valvetrain. What projected compression am I looking at? I wanna bring it as close to 11:1 as possible.

The head is already ported and milled .015 and the IM is polished/portmatched all the way through, including the throttle body being bored out.

Can I expect to put out close to what you have Pirate? This will be mostly N/A but I plan on doing a directport setup at some point.

To the OG poster - I have an F23 crank sitting in my garage. There also maybe someone closer to you with one, try PM NotriousB or Jweller as they're on the east coast.

Take all your F23's measurements and the Wiseco piston specs and plug it into an online compression calculator like c-speedracing.com's and that will give you an idea. you might want to reconsider overboring the F23 past 86.25mm.

Personally, I think that the F23 SOHC head is inferior to other F-series SOHC heads. I would be surprised if you make anywhere near 180whp with a LOT of work and money. I am not against making the most of what it is, there are just better port designs to be had for cheaper, with better aftermarket support.

If you're just out to have fun with an inexpensive engine then I say mill the crap out of the head to get your compression and get an adjustable cam gear to make up for the difference in cam timing. What could it hurt to try your hand at porting the head too? If you totally mess it up you can find another for $50.

It is just for fun basically. Just to see what I can get out of it. The head is already ported, I'm just working on getting the bottom end together.

If this weren't my only car I'd probably consider other heads or setups but for what it is it'll work for me.
