Default 4dr SI owners

my girl has an 06 4dr civic LX, went in w. her for her first oil change. i wanted to make sure they honor the 1st free oil change the 30 min express oil changed took 45 mins. i always wanted an S2000, but when i sat in it, it was a lil constricting. im a big boy, 5'8 195lbs. my girl was like "u're only gonna drive this for 10 mins and u'll be uncomfortable, cuz u slouch when u drive!" she was kinda right whatever. stupid girl observation.

anyways the reason for the thread, i saw the 4dr SI. and its pretty nice and clean looking. i don't like the stickers. i wanted to test drive one but the salesperson that approached us had an attitude. im getting tired of my legacy. its fun but i never really liked it, the power is awesome but its big and heavy. im thinking the SI will bring back the memories of my GSR and still be big enough for a kid or two in the future.

anyways SI owners i have a couple of questions. are your cars still a rice magnet. do u guys get harass by ricers at the traffic light/mall? in stock form i kno its arbitary, but how good is the suspension set up?

thanks. im not doing the trade anytime soon, i want to buy a house by early next year, then maybe do the swap but the 4 dr SI looks so tempting. congrats on buying a great car.

There's no way we would let you test drive one, unless you put a deposit on it and were coming in to buy it.

Thats because alot of salesman are scumbags i delt with alot of retards looking for my SI they are clueless about the car they are selling you it make's you think why am i not selling cars. I learned alot from buying my si i made a few mistakes i wont make again but thats what happens when your very excited with no experience buying a new car the point is not everyone knows what a civc SI is capable of. If someone comes in that likes it but knows nothing about it they cant get a test drive that makes you a horrible salesman and will **** that person off from my experience the biggest scumbags work at bronx honda wow they are badddd !

I got a test drive w/o putting anything down on the car. I didn't even have a ride along, so I thrashed it a little bit. Now, I know I really want one and I'm not beholden to any dealer in particular, so I can take things as I want and wait for the supply to more closely meet demand.

I am the same way... I'll take the cookie.

I know what I want before I get there, and I know what I am going to pay...
I am not interested in wasting a salespersons time. I know that I know more about the car than him anyway.. I'm an enthusiest, it's my job.

I have a '07 Si Sedan (FA5) and it is so new no one knows what it is. I have shaved all of the emblems, badges and stickers off of it so that it (sort of) looks just like a plain vanilla Civic... with a spoiler and a rock'n paint job. I do not get any attention from ricers and even if I did I do not have a problem ignoring them.

I thought that I would need to make some upgrades to the car's suspension. Honestly, I doubt there is anything I could do to improve what Honda puts on the show room floor. The combination of a well tuned suspension, traction control, LSD and quality tires makes this one of the best handling street cars I have ever had the pleasure to drive. This thing sticks like glue. I can only compare it to my SCCA SoloII CSP CRX that I run on DOT-spec racing Yokohamas. If you wanted to criticize, the ride height could stand to lose an inch or so. But you would be losing valuable suspension travel and maybe screwing up a suspension that Honda has balanced so nicely. Frankly, there is no reason to mess with the suspension for a street driven car.

The K20Z3 is plenty fine. I have dropped in a K&N air filter and I plan to add the HFP sport muffler at some point. Maybe down the road I will explore other power makers, but the car's performance is excellant.

Maybe the most significant feature of this car is the rigidity of the body. This is my 7th Honda (spread out over 20 years) and I can say that Honda FINALLY built a body to match their engine/trasnmission combinations. The feeling is more like an expensive European car than a Honda. You just have to drive it to see for yourself.

thanks for the input. i learned the hard way that at least for me, driving my car 100% on regular roads, im not too big on power. i rather take a corner fast (when no one else is on the road, of course) than stomp on the pedal on a traffic light. i was planning on getting a NA miata for a beater/weekend car. i never sat in one. but if im having a hard time seating in a S2000, SI might be a good alternative.

cbstd: Take a look into getting the 4dr Civic rear sway bar from Progress. It's a hell of a suspension upgrade:

http://www.corsportusa.com/sto...=1204

I've got it in my Si Coupe and I'm LOVING it. Talk about the rear end catching up with the front end.

Oh, and fyi, the front end sway bar is freaking HUGE. Now I see why there is no replacement as of yet.

Does this mean it induces oversteer? If it does, no thank you. I like the neutral balance of the car right now.

Er, catching up as in the rear not being so sloppy compared to the front end. I meant it quality wise as opposed to literally.

Actually I've noticed a bit of understeer in the coupe in some conering situations, so adding the rear sway helped out in that department. Honestly I'm not sure how the 4dr drives, and I assumed that it would be about the same. So I guess wait until someone on here or another forum tries it out first, or call Progress and ask 'em.

Im sure you didn't mean Progress, so far you're getting the sway bar from an insurance company.

Answer me this...do you think that after this car-buying experience you're as good at purchasing a vehicle as you are at typing complete sentences? People who are really interested in buying Si's know what they want, they know what they're getting, there's no need to "sell" them on the car. If they're considering something else, they can go buy that other car. Literally a dozen riceboys walk in the door every week looking for an Si or an S2000 to stroke a salesperson on, or try to swindle their way into a test-drive. Our dealership gets approx. 10 Si coupes in a year, why would we let every single crooked-hat wearing jerk-off who wants to thrash an Si sit behind the drivers seat and destroy a car that we can make a killing off of? No thanks, if you're going to buy one, you'll buy it. You know its good. Thanks for the input though, I wish you bought your Si from me, because I'm sure that salesperson made a killing on you!
Thanks!
