from em1 to fg/fa
He guys. I have an em1 that its bone stock. Burns lots of oil so I think its time for an upgrade. I been looking at new si's and sti's. Any previous em1 owners here that made a jump to the new si's. How do they like them. THe dealer I went to today had 6 si's, 2 2dr in fiji and one in Habi and 1 silver fa, a gg and a habi. He said he could get me any color with any options I wanted in a few days. Now, I can afford and Sti but I wont have $$$$ for mods were in the si I could. I would like any input you previous em1 owners my have would be HIGHLLY appreciate it. THANKS

Re: from em1 to fg/fa (FBP_Si)
STI is obviously the better car, but damn the Si is so much cheaper, if you have better things to dump money into than a new car (Hoping to buy a house for example) I would go with the Si, its still tons of car, especially coming from an EM1, so I would say base it off your personall situation or simply think what you could do with an extra 10 Grand.

Oh, definitely totally different cars all together...
I was going to get an STi before I got my Si and I gotta say... for the money, I couldn't have made a better choice
Save yourself some money and get the awesome car that the Si really is... Not to mention the fact that you just can't fight with Honda's reliability/resale values

Ever think about a lightly used sti?
That would a save a lot of green you could use for some light mods..
best of both worlds?
Also think what you're getting with the sti.. awd...turbo...
The civic won't be nearly as much fun in mud/gravel/snow, but it will def. be more reliable. good luck with your decision, test drive them both.

i went from an em1 to an fg2, and its definitely worth it. i love my fg2 hands down better than my em1, sure my em1 was the epb and i had soo much sentimental value in it being the car i paid for myself during high school. but the new si just beats it in every category, hp, looks, interior, sound system, lack of theft, basically every category. sure you can go STI which you will have fun w/ but be honest w/ yourself, you're a Honda guy and you know it. Get the SI you wont be disappointed, especially since you cant mod right now, just wait for tuning to come out for the z3 and its going to be beastly!! fg2 ftwnd

Im going to tell you one thing. Choice the car that you really like. Im rolling in an FG2 right now and it was not my car of choice, but I ended up picking it up. Just make sure you'll be happy with your choice

Re: (thegoods217)
Thanks guys I really appreciate your coments. thegoods217 is tigh Im a Honda guy this is my second em1 and 6th honda over all. Ive given this some serious thinking. I really want the STi but I would like to have some extra green for stuff I might not be able with that car. So far once I test drive both I will know. Now the dilema with the si would be 2 or 4 doors? How much insurance would be once against the other? I already know the sti will only be $50 more than my em1 every 6 months. Once again thanks everyone for your sincere input.

Personally, I liked the looks of the interior of the Si more than the STi...and the Si seats are sweet.
They're both great cars though, test drive is the biggest selling point. But aftermarket parts are huge for hondas as we all know so there is that aspect of ownership. Plus in my area everybody and their mom has an STi...or a Corvette...or a Viper lol. I mean there are a zillion civics, but they're either stock or ricey, and I've only seen 1 other Si, ever (besides mine that is).
If you're looking at an STi, no reason not to look at the 4 door Si. Personally I like having a 4 door, and the lower profile spoiler on the sedan just looks sharper imo. Plus insurance on a new Si over my old car, 40$ a year vs a ton more for the STi.

STi & 4dr Si are worlds apart.
As for getting rid of an EM1 for an Fg2/FA5, DO IT. Even an FG1 is nicer than an EM1... especially the interior.

I know they're worlds apart, what the hell kind of comment is that? This guy is looking at both and asked 2door or 4door Si if you would read. Get off my ***.
