stupid fan question
I just ordered a FAL 12in. LoBoy fan today and I planning on installing it tomorrow. My only question is, how will I know if it works? Is's pretty damn cold right now in PA, and I dont feel like running it hard so how will I know if i wired it up correctly? thanks
remove the connector to either switch A (thermostat housing) or switch B (next to the headers in that smallish upper rad hose housing), from your engine - and short the connector with a paperclip (essentially you are simulating hot coolant - tricking the ecu that the "switch" has very low resistance - which is what happens when those switches heat up sitting in the coolant) the ecu will instantly run the fan.
(hot coolant) low resitance - fan turns on
(cold coolant) high resistance - fan turns off.
if you short switch B connector your car doesn't even have to be turned on.
that would be the easiest way to instantly make the fans run.
make sure you have the fan configured to pull air thru the rad, not push. (:

if its not working, you'll know after about 10 mins of driving. i mistakenly forgot to hook the connector back up to mine and went driving. it drove like CRAP. then i realized what i did.
but thats one hell of a ghetto way to check....
