Remove power steering gear
I am in the process of removing the power steerin gear (rack and pinnion) from my 1992 Honda Civic with automatic transmission. I have disconnected the power steering gear from the rack and am in the process of attempting to remove it. I have been able to remove the bolts from the front of the catalytic converter but have failed to remove the back ones.
At autozone on line help quide it states to remove the A exhaust pipe which is the pipe between the exhaust manifold and the catalytic muffler.
The Helm' s factory manual states to remove catalytic converter.
Is it feasible to remove the steering rack without removing the catalytic converter?
If I were to remove the rubber hangers from the resonator, would this allow enough clearance to remove power steering gear?
If necessary, I can take a hack saw and cut the pipe between the resonator and catalytic , enabling the removeal of the catalytic converter? I can also remove the A pipe exhaust pipe easily.
What are your recomendations?

You could PROBABLY do it w/o removing anything but you won't have as much room to do it with.
So try taking it off the hanger, let it hang or put a block under it (so it doesn't break from its own weight) and if you really can't get it off - remove what you need so you have the clearance.
