God awful screaching sound coming from Timing belt housing area
Just started up the 94 ex this morning and was welcomed with a pleasant screeching sound. The first thing I thought of was the bearings associated with the timing belt but the sound seems to be coming from the area of my AC and alternator belts and not inside the block or timing belt housing ( also had timing belt replaced 20-30,000 miles ago ) anyone ever heard of problem like this with the AC belt or the AC itself or anything in that area?
more of a metal on metal sound than just a squeaky belt sound

remove accessory belts and see if it goes away, then one by one put belts back on to find the bad system.

i had a problem similar to this with my nissan 200sx, everytime i started or accelerated or even just stood there idle there was this horrible screech. came from the same area, altenator belt, AC ... powersteering. The problem was my tensioner pulley was loose, eventually it popped off and the belts broke
i would definately check if the belts are begining to loosen.
again this was with a nissan, not sure how it would turn out with the civic but shuldnt be to different

Yeah I checked the PS belt and that wasn't it so I got rid of that pesky AC belt ( didn't work anyways ) and now the sound is gone, thanks a lot guys
