Default Hi, this is my first post in HT

Hello everyone.

I've been using Honda tech as good online resource for couple years.

but this is my first post.

Im sorry that my first post will be a rather stupid question.

I read various articles about suspensions from both Honda - tech and Team integra.net

I understand most of the general informations.

My question is,

It seems that all aftermarket suspension settings involve lowering the ride height.
Is there any performance spring+shock setup that will allow me to keep the stock ride height?

My integra is 1995 special edition.
Ywa, car is nearly 12 years old but i kept the exterior as clean as possible.
Also, since it is auto, I kept the car 100% stock. (It was my cousin's car. She gave it to me... so i don't really complaint... althought i do want a manual teg)

Unfortunately, even well maintained parts need to go sometime...

My car's suspension needs to be changed. I'm not an aggressive driver... so it doesn't really affect the driving. But all the noise from suspension drives me crazy. (all the bushing are dry and cracked due to old damper)

If I were to change the suspension, I want something that will perform better than the stock suspension setting. However, I also need to keep my stock ride height. maximum drop I could allow is probablye less than 1 inch.

Reason behind this is that I live in Queens, NY.
1) There's no way my car's gonna survive on this pavement with lowered ride height.
2) There are no place to speed (unless you want to get pulled over or get hit by a bus) but lot of place to brake. I want to increase my braking performance with stiffer setting.
3) If my car gets too low, you can't open the passenger door without hitting the curb when you are parked on street.
4) my driveway is a stiff incline. I'm 100% sure i'll scratch the front lip when i go up there with lowered car.
5) don't feel like dealing with alignment problem.

Ok... there you go... So I need to stay within 1 inch from my stock ride height.
IS there any setup that'll allow this?
It is ok if there isn't. Then I'll just replace the suspension with another stock part...

Here's the pic of my car

If you get adjustable shocks you can set it to whatever ride height you like. But the point of aftermarket shocks and springs is so that the car will have a lower center of gravity therefore creating stiffer more controlable driving. A very popular, somewhat cheap and effective setup is the koni yellows and ground controls.

Thank you for your reply, teggysue.

I thought adjustable shocks allow you to adjust the damping force only. not the height... isn't it?

Im well aware of the fact that properly lowered car is much more stable.

Unfortunately, I also need to be able to park in my own driveway without scratching my bumper.Also... GC's are too stiff for me... don't they have 450/350 spring rate?

And I just want something more stable for everyday driving for my own safety. I NEVER race, or do auto-X.

So I was looking for setting that will not be so low but will be better than stock.

Sorry, I meant adjustable coilovers which will allow to adjust ride height, you are right about shocks adjusting damper force. And if you dont like gc's i dont know what else to suggest you, maybe try type r springs and shocks? ionno...but good luck on finding a setup

You could get the Type R shocks and springs which will handle much better then your current suspension. The only thing is that you will need the Type R rear lower control arms because the rear shocks mount differently.

You could also get some coilovers or coilover sleeves and just keep the car at the stock height. A good setup that many people use is the Koni Yellows and Ground Control. You could also look into springs that provide a slight drop or get custom spring rates and length to help prevent from lowering the car and get the Koni Yellows and set the spring perch on the highest one (there are 3 perches on the Koni Yellows).

you said you dont mind a 1" drop then you can get yourself some Koni yellow struts, and there are plenty of springs out there that will give you the one inch drop. With one inch and a good set of struts you will be fine on bad roads and you will definitly like the performance gains.

you say you're not an aggressive driver...then get tokico blues. they're perfect for daily NORMAL driving. they come w/ 1" lowering springs.
