Default hf tranny??

according to "jdmB18hatch"
i can use my stock hf tranny for a "zc" swap.
. atleast that's what i think ...he/she said ( i don't know JDMb18hatch's gender)

i think this makes sense, because the tranny says "L3" just like the "si" or "dx"
BUT
the gears would be better for racing>

am i correct with this assumption?

BTW, i can't seem to figure out how to respond to a topic, what the hell do i click on???????

yeah, most of us are unclear about that too..hell, even those of us who've met him are unsure hehe.

yeah, you'll be able to use the hf tranny no problem...its not the best route b/c of the tall gears, but it'll definitely work...

if you were to use an si/dx tranny, you'd need the tranny, si/dx axles, and hubs.

if you were to use a zc tranny, you'd need the tranny, 90-93 teg axles, intemediate shaft, and hubs..

why use the hf transmission. The gearing is so long that it doesn't take advantage of the ZC motor. I know from experience since I had an HF trans on my ZC and it was slow as heck. JMO

He is right the HF will work. The gearing will be tall, therefore, best suited for highway cruising. To respond all you have to do is click reply at the top right hand corner of the post.

You don't need hubs or axels or all that. You just need the tranny. The Axles will fit the tranny, but SI/DX axles won't fit the hubs in an HF. Try it and see

I'll second that.

ok, like the others said you can use your HF axles with the Si or DX tranny (you wont be able to use the Si/DX axles), you dont need to change your hubs.

anyway, dont you the HF tranny it sucks ***! i had a Si tranny on my ZC and it was way quicker (no times, it just feels faster) but that tranny blew up and i put my HF tranny back in (i have a HF) and it just feels so SLOW. it is soo creepy pulling 2nd gears upto 90mph, if is just wrong...

That and standard trannys are even worse because you have no 5th gear!
Although, I'm going to try out my HF tranny after I finish with my turbo. It'll give me a crazy top speed! But probably will never go that fast, I'm not crazy anymore

well third should top out at about 165mph. i plan on running my HF tranny for a while with the turbo (well until 2nd gear ***** out a syncro, ~245K miles so far). here is a tranny/speed calculator: http://crx.honda-perf.org/math/index.html have fun, i think it says something like 250mph as top speed for that tranny...
