All right fellas which is faster, a Type-R or H22 motor in a CRX.
H22a has more power and torque so theoretically if it was installed and setup correctly, it would be faster. Which would be more practical is another debate.

Power output would be close but for the torque the H22a would put the smack down.... I would have to say H22a wins ....but hows about a nice B20CrVTEC
H22 is heavier, so if power is close I would say the Type R would at least have better mph. I'm not sure about actual E/T's.
id say if N/A,the B18C5 will be faster cause of better suited transmission gears and final,if turbo,,the H22 wins, cause of same reason cause its tranny is better suited for turbo as compared to the R

I second IvanED9, H22 leans backwards than Type R. Although more powerful...the Type R is better suited for your CRX. Bigger doesn't mean better, maybe stronger but not faster.
H22A in CRX considering it has LSD in its tranny to move straight enough to beat it... Those things with non lsd's have known to go sideways when launched too hard... But i give it to the CRX.

in the 1320, the h22 crx. the b18c similar but its possible to net the same kind of times given variables like driver, suspension tuning etc. the h22 has the torque but in some cases too much torque. now if your question is about which will make the crx quicker in corners it would be the b18C beacuse of the less unsprung weight. but why do that when you can do a b16 with better wieght, and better rod stroke ratio. ok, went off a tangent but you get the idea. its wieght vs power in most cases. h22 carry an *** load of un-needed torque unless its a ***** out race car. I wouldn't drive that daily for anything. too much wieght will affect turnabilty.
the h22 will be faster in the 1/4 but thats about it, i would rather go type r but if you have stock hood you might have a clearance problem, type r will be more practicle for daily driving and a h22 will have mad traction issues.
the H22 will be faster. Thats what you asked... thats your Answer!!
H22 drop in a CRX with stock I/H/E is still 13's N/A all day long..!!!

if you're going to spend that kind of money (at least 5k for the r changeover) you should look into getting a mild ls/vtec built. all new everything, it will put down nice power, and you can use a jdm cable b series tranny so everything will bolt in easy. you'll kill everything and have a reliable brand new motor.
now if your question is about which will make the crx quicker in corners it would be the b18C beacuse of the less unsprung weight
