please do not get a header off of ebay, that would be a waste of money and time.

however, to answer your question a 4-2-1 header frees up more power in the mid rpm range. A 4-1 header will free up more power in the upper rpm range due to less restriction on the exhaust flow. i would personally get the 4-2-1 header unless your making 300+ whp, or if your car is for the strip then go with the 4-1 header. is your motor stock or are you building it for higher rpms? if so go with the 4-1 header, but if the car is just your daily driver just get the 4-2-1. o yeah, if your motor is stock and you dont have any other bolt-ons, you will probably not notice any power gains.

im in high school, dont have the cash for a nice header. Ill probably go with a megan racing header, and i will be getting a AEM Dryflow intake pretty soon ( just the filter ). BTW I have a y8, so it will be harder to improve in the header department right?

you can pickup an edelbrock full stainless proflow/shorty 4-2-1 for d series (part 6792) for $132 new not sure how it compares to the megan, but i'm sure it beats the run of the mill ebay stuff.

i understand the whole not having cash thing, trust me(im a freshman in college). anyways, your just gonna end up spending more money if you buy **** off of ebay b/c you will end up having to replace it because it will break. you are right about not being able to improve the power much from just a header. if you ever do build your motor for higher compression or higher rpms, then i would suggest getting a good header; as for now save your money and do something else to improve the performance that you will actually notice. nitrous is the best hp/$ gain, just make sure to get your car tuned and dont overspray if you decide to do nitrous. if i were you, id personally save for a good QUALITY turbo kit, you will def see the best results from a turbo on a D series motor.

i would love to have a turbo D. Id be happy with a greddy kit! But my dad would bitch all day if I did something like that, cause he knows why I would be doing it and also cause he has a wrx and knows what a slug can do. Im just thinking that for about 130 i can get a megan racing header, for another 70 a generic intake with good filter. Ill spend like 200 and ill be happy with a nice midrange bump.

wow, our dads must be related somehow, LOL. anyways, its your car, do what you want. You get what you pay for, just remember that. If I were you I'd make sure i saved my OEM parts b/c i would not feel safe with cheap aftermarket stuff. Im currently saving for the Greddy turbo kit and I think it will be well worth it once i have got it.

if you do ever plan to turbo your car then def dont buy a header and intake. you will just end up replacing those parts with the turbo set up. Instead buy a quality exhuast that will be compatible with your turbo, or upgrade the transmission/clutch, or maybe work on the suspension/brakes; those will occupy you until you have the funds to turbo your D. IMO a turbo D would be the most fun, def more fun than a D with an intake and header. With the intake and header you will be lucky to net 5 whp, however, if you get a turbo you could have around 180-200whp. 105whp<200whp .

good luck with whatever you choose and please think real hard before investing in cheap parts

You won't notice anything at all. Save your money. Trust me, I've been through it before.

actually got my 4-2-1 header off ebay a year ago, no problems since, plus i paid 37 bucks... a 4-2-1 is a 4-2-1 just like a cold air intake is a cold air intake and shouldnt be 100 bucks.. its not going to break.. the only thing i wouldnt get on ebay is one of the generic mufflers.. ill still with my magnaflow but i do have full cat back pipes from ebay, they are bigger than oem and for some reason they arent broken yet.. hmm...most of us arent rich thats why we drive civics..
