Default Help, it is hard to put it in 3rd and 4th with out grinding gears.

I past did a B16 swap in my 90 civic using the HCP kit with adjustable shift linkage. I am not sure if it is my adjustment on the shift linkage or if my 3rd and 4th syncro are going bad. But when I shift in to 3rd and 4th at high RPM's the gears tend to grind there way into the shift. Oh yeah I have ACT 6puck with extremePP.

Oh yeah, do you think clutch cable has anything to do with it? I know you are suppose to use a 90 integra LS cable but I used the stock one.

thanks in advance
Justin

If it grinds when you put it in gear, before you let out the clutch its probably the syncros in the trans. If it grinds when you let out the clutch check your adjustable shift linkage it may not be going into gear all the way.

Join the club. My GSR tranny just started doing it this weekend. Looks like an SI or TypeR tranny is in my future

You could try replacing the transmission fluid with some Honda MTF or 1040. Mine used to grind going into 3rd before I changed it. I changed it 3500 miles later for the F of it. Havent had a grind yet.

Just try adjusting your clutch. And you dont have to switch clutch cables they are the same.

Few things, What tranny ? The S1 ? I have one and it grinds 3rd at high rpm's all the time. I am using mobile 1 10w-30. Your clutch cable could be at fault if your not fully releasing the clutch. Did you mod your cable at all ? I took off about an inch of the SS wrap around the cable itself

OK here it is all HONDA trannys do this there syncros are always ******* up most of them **** up going into 3rd then you will start to lose second. It starts out with a small grind but only gets worse then it stsrts to grind shifting normal. Replacing the syncros usally starts doing the smething again, just get a new or used trans from someone who is not hard on there tranny.

OH **** i just noticed that you have a 6 puck. If you drive this car on the street your trans is going to completly go. My friend had the same clutch and blew 3 transmissions before he went to a STAGE 3. When your clutch is unsprung that is really hard on the trans. It probably feels like your whole DASH is going to fly off when you shif hard with that clutch you have

My old D-Series used to grind at high RPMs going into 3rd. I started double clutching. That stoped the grinding. So when your going to shift, put clutch in. Take car out of 2nd. Let Clutch out. Put clutch in, put car into 3rd. Let clutch out. Viola! That makes you shift a little slower but at least it won't grind.
