i have been meesing with the cooling system ever since my radiator blew about a month ago, i have changed my radiator and thermostate and have flushed the new radiator but never blead the system..i have been told to bleed it from where the theremostat is at?...or the top water hose, but i cant seem to find it.

i know that the system has air bubbles because i replaced the thermostat and radiator and the temperature seems to rise then normal....do you guys know where to bleed the cooling system?

In my experience if you uncap the radiator then run the engine until it reaches operating temperature then it will bleed itself. You will probably need to add coolant as it does this because the coolant level will go down as the bubbles work their way out.

Before actually doing that, I would just leave the rad. cap off and squeeze all the hoses. That way the actual burping of the system shouldn't take too long. I know my car was sitting there for a damned long time before any air was bubbled out.

*Note: This was performed on a Type-R which has a b16 casting head. All other Integras have the upper hose mount on the front of the head. On this house mount there is a small brass Bleed skrew. If you dont have a type-R, you put the rad cap on to the FIRST stop and open this bleeder. Run it until no bubbles appear. Stop car, top of rad, start car again, run until fans come on, stop car, and top of radiator one last time.

 

On ODB1 cars there is a small bleeder valve. You start the car, open the bleeder, wait till it runs with no bubbles, close the bleeder, fill the radiator. And you done.

On OBD2 cars (96+) you remove the radiator cap (when cool) start the car. Let it run untill the fans turn on twice (personally I hav allways done once), fill the radiator if needed. Put the cap. and you are done. A day or two later I allways check the levels just to make sure. But using this method I have never had an overheating issue.

 

so i think i might know the reason why my car is slow when the temperature is at normal instead of a quarter...i think it might be that im running the ctr pistons, and when the temperature is above a quarter, it causes the motor to ping..so yeah, i guess i have to tune it
