Default Heavy-Duty exhaust hanger rubber

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for hd-rubber for the exhaust hangers. I'm having issues with the inexpensive 3" exhaust I made - its something like 15ga aluminized steel (very heavy), which I got for almost nothing. I've only heard it rattle a few times on the body, but I'm more afraid one day the oem rubber will crack and start dropping it. Its a daily driver, so it will take a beating.

I was thinking about some multilayer fiber-reinforced rubber (like they use in hoses), but I can't think of where to buy it as a thick, flat piece.

i know exactly what you mean, i think the stock ones are barely good enough to hold up the stock exhaust let alone something in 15g steel. my only thought would be to go find some super thick ones at the auto shop from a different model car or double up on the stock ones. if you find a better solution please post it up.

just thought about this while i was typing, have you seen those people who fill their stock motor mounts with a 2 part urethane? the same method could easily be applied to the right exhaust hanger and im sure it would be sturdy enough. just food for thought....

How about urethane?

There is no Honda application but the 10mm ones in that link should work.

I have urethane ones installed in my CRX. My friend got them for me from A&J Racing in Richmond, British Columbia. I think they were like $10 each though.

cut up a radial tire? new-used wont matter, just be sure to use the treaded part not the sidewall, and watch out for getting poked

I had these on my Turbo Miata. I was really happy with them.

I use the thick rubber ones from a ford (2$ at autozone) and add an SS clamp around the rubber...

I was also looking for the same thing. I have seen polyurethane ones in 8mm, 9mm, and 10mm. What is the proper size for the Civic hangers?

the new duramax diesel pickups have rubber hangers with a oval steel loop embeded in the rubber. go to a chevy dealer and see if they will sell you some. the exhaust systems they hold up are 3.5" and 4" ss pipe that is probably 12g or thicker. heavy stuff.

i have some decent info on this... i have run a full 3" exhaust on my setup on my accord witch i have on air struts and it rides ruffer the hell like i litterally break the rebar that holds the rubber exhaust peices... when i was at my local car store i found a universal hanger on it that uses a strape type of materail in between two steel peices and that works great... one of the only things that hasnt broken yet...

I also need some new exhaust hangers. Midas did some work on my car and exchanged my oem hangers with cheap loop ones that immediatly dry up and crack so now my exhaust bangs around!

You folks can check out the HD exhaust hangers sold by VW resellers. They are an oval shape, but have a chain inside the rubber.
