Clutch overpressured?
Hi,
got a 92 prelude si, and my clutch seems to get very stiff while I'm driving.
I've changed the master and slave a couple of months ago, and its filled
with a synthetic brake fluid.
I've noticed this recently since the clutch will not engage properly when
the pedal gets stiff, it will start to slip.
After the car cools the clutch would be back like its supposed to be,
and I'd be able to drive normally.
Thanks

More importantly, did you use the right brake fluid? If you used some DOT 2 or DOT 3 stuff you very well might be breaking down the fluid from heat. Usually improper bleeding leaves air in the system, which compresses more than brake fluid and moves through the fluid, and causes a spongy effect.

The clutch line is properly bled.
and the break fluid I used is synthetic break fluid, which says it
exceed dot 3.
Pedal feeling isn't spongy it actually gets really hard to push in
because it tries to spring back really hard.
I'm not sure what happens to break fluid when it gets hot, but
I think that might be the problem. Does break fluid expand when
it gets hot?
Thanks

But what does the Prelude require? I dont know but if it requires DOT4 fluid and your using DOT3 you could be passing the boiling temperature of the fluid causing it to boil, turn to gas and expand, and then break down. Check that out.
I can almost be sure that he is using castrol Gt-LMA, which is one of the more common synthetic brake fluids available....
OEM honda fluid is DOT3 if I remember correctly
Either way there is no reason that the clutch fluid should be getting that hot, my assumption is that he has a line laying on something hot......
I would look into that damper on the clutch line, those things are sketchy....

Problem solved.
I found the clutch line was in contact with the transmission.
the screw that held the damper jiggled off or something, it was gone.
After putting back a screw, the problem seems to have dissapeard, for now.
I guess I've learnt how important it is to keep the clutch line away from
any parts of the engine that gets hot, even if its a tiny bit.
Thanks all for the input.
btw. I was using Valvoline, synthetic break fluid that "exceeds dot 3 and 4".
