I bought a OBX racing lsd, and i put it on my gsr tranny that is in my 00 civic with a b18c5 motor. When i was puting the lsd in as saw that the old slip had a place were it spins the speed sensor but the new lsd obx racing one didnt have it. Is there Any other way to get my speed? Please i need this, My Rpms work but mph is not working
....
Any help would be very awsome!

Is there a place for the speedometer gear to be pressed on? If so, can you reuse the gear from your old differential?
Here is an OBX link thread for your reading pleasure.

are you sure you got the right one for your year, the older tegs had a cable drive for the vehicle speed sensor, the newer ones are the magnetic pick up ones.
I assume you have a newer one which would make me believe that you probably got the wrong LSD from OBX, which is not uncommon.
Call OBX check the part number in relation to your car. You have a swap in a civic so you need to make sure you are using the LSD that corresponds to the year of the tranny.
I know of plenty of people on HT who run those diffs without a problem. You also need to make sure all the bolts/nuts/fasteners are tight before you install it. OBX has a habit of sending 1/2 *** assembled ****.

Does your LSD have the speedometer gear like at the bottom in this picture?

While installing the new diff. in you should have pressed the old speedo gear off the stock diff and put it on the new unit....but I guess you forgot to do it.....which is sucks because now you'll have to dissasemble your tranny again in order to fix it.
P.S. Be carefull pressing speedo gear off and on the diff, if is really easy to break or bend it, and you cant buy the new part as a separate unit.

whats wrong with obx lsd? it basicly the same as a type r lsd. i think the obx lsd is great, i have one in my car and yeah you need to press that gear off and press it on to the new lsd.

Right on. BE CAREFUL. It's only plastic.

IF you get pulled over you know you are speeding.

you gotta pull the WHOLE thing apart again to put that gear on.....plus you need to separate the diff bearing on that side of the diff. AND you need to pull the speedo gear off the original diff without braking it............good luck........thats a **** load of work!

your tach can also act like a speedo..if you remember how fast you were going at certain rpms

this is where you should've stopped and asked h-t, instead of putting everything together first.

well heres a lil help. wen i get a chance ill calibrate my car in different gears and tell u how fast im going with the cooresponding RPMs. u can make a little cheat sheet and tape it to ur dash. at one point or another ur start remembering what speed is what RPM. its def ghetto but itll help u in the time being.
If you have or get a gps unit it will tell you how fast you are going, and from what I've been told it tends to be more accurate then a speedometer. That of course is going to cost you as well....but might be worth it if you where already thinkin about getting one.
