Thanks...
I do love the Accord and it would be cool to see it continue getting faster, but where I live there is a Shop called APEXr (not to be compared to Apex Motorsports in Phoenix). They are a bunch of dipshits and all there cars are rumored to be fast. The problem is none show up at the track. They went out and bought a completed caged car that they say run 11.0 NA... Must be nice to just go and buy somebody elses work. I personally doubt the car has seen 11 sec territory so this is my excuse to build the hatch. Call it a inferiority complex on my part, I guess But APEX (Tucson) makes all these claims, but they never bring it to the table. So this should put the heat on them. As it stands, Here in Tucson, I have the fastest timeslip for a NA honda with the Accord, My gilfriend has the second, and 4 other cars I built engines for are all grouped close behind. There is a huge rivalry between Us (Collectiveracing) and APEXr.

Nevermind what others have. Just know that on H-T, you will always have the upmost respect. A 4-clyinder, FWD N/A car with full interior running low 13's and probebly high 12's is just about unheard of as a street legal daily driver.

there are civics and tegs that can make that claim, alot of them.
yeah...even if you can't do anything else all motor....
build a turbo block and run 20 psi at the strip and just blow everything away....then you can say you did what they did, but you did it in a heavier car....

I see your point about "doing it with a heavier car". I will run the Accord in the 12's NA soon, but right now it is on hold. Everyone has a civic, but this one is a purpose built one (for me) I just want to see if I can do it on a limited budget. I have put a lot of thought into it and I think it can be done. The Accord is still my family car (I have kids) so I am not ready to make a full blown race car out of it. When I buy a ''new" family car then the accord will get the "all out" treatment. 10's in an Accord would be awesome! This might happen in the next year. we will see...

you sure the apex stores arent related? the guys up here just bought a 12 sec all motor car from the guys at API. its a black civic coupe, not sure what year but its got the smaller headlights. ive seen it run with them driving it, lowest time theyve seen has been low 13s. the car is capable of 12s though. ill give you one guess on the motor. yep, its a frankenwilly.
right now i belive fastest all-motor car in AZ belongs to the fellas from Import Powerhouse. they ran 11s in there crx. too bad they didnt build it.

Right now, I have $6000 into the car. I need another $2-3000 to get it to the track.
of course this is with me doing all of the labor/engine build-up/ chasis set up. I have most of the parts to complete it as my Sponsor is donating. This car Will be running a Hasport Flag. So thanks go out to them in a big way. I have tried to make an engine that will require less tear down and should get me through a full season of racing. This will probably be a car that runs in the 11's NA consistantly and is street legal. (at least that is my goal)
Road racing was the initial intent for the Accord and I got sidetracked into drag racing it because it was a lot easier to win money. We don't have a roadcourse here in Tucson yet, but there are plans to build one. I have also been to the Porsche club events at PIR and Firebird, but they don't let me run the Accord. I think some of the Porsche and BMW guys are scared... Don't want to be beat by a honda... It is strange but The Porsche guys seem to be a little more interested in the Honda simply because they also rate their cars on HP/liter like Honda. BMW guys just turn their noses up.

I believe the Bimmer camp is too proud to admit anything or give some credit where credit is due. I suppose there is some bad blood out there. Though, It would be great to see an Accord dominate a pack of BMWs at a track. Especially your Accord.
Do the Civic... Accords are nice to mod but they can only go soo far. And where you are now is not bad. Now its time to go to the next level. And the Civic is the only thing that can take you there..
Plus you can still use the Accord as your daily driver. hehe

just to think you made an accord run low 13's or high 12's NA when most people can't even get down in th 14's NA....that still amazes me....and i'd be scared to see what you could do if you put some FI in that accord....dayem that would be fast...and i say go for the civic...you can probably run low 10's or 9's if you turbo one of those munchkins....dayem...just keep us posted if you do decide to do this project....good luck
I say forget drag with the accord, its more of a track car to me.
but if your really into drag racing, I would start with a lighter car.
Edit: I'm dumb.

How much lighter is a fully stripped Civic that he's talking about over a fully stripped 92 Accord EX? It cant be more than a couple of hundred pounds right?
my 91 accord 2 door lx is very stripped...it weighs in at 2500 lbs...maybe lighter now...but only by about 25 lbs or so.
a crx or civic hatch have a curb weight of about 1850-2150 and that is full interior
so YES it makes a huge difference....but TORQUE also makes a huge difference
torque is underrated in the world of honda's

if your want that 1600 lb car to be really fast all motor, just drop your motor in it....seriously...it would be INSANELY FAST
then spend the other money on a H22 and mild turbo for your accord

did you read what 2point6 stated earlier?(edit: must be in other thread) he said in this project civic, it will be another "stroker" project. hmmmm, im thinking 2.6L of hatchback greatness. of course, this is my opinion i could be wrong.
