Default Question for the TOP TECH guys only

alright has anyone had any experience in pretty much making a hybrid transmission. using the bottom housing of an Accord transmission. H22 gears and top half of the housing.

I have been working on it. Got the case closed and everything but having some trouble with the gears movability. If anyone has any knowledge of this please chime in.

I am sure there is a difference in the housing from accord to preludes I think the accord top housing sits lower then the prelude. If you do get this to work make sure you use the starter from the correct housing or the starter will not engage. Is this 5spd or auto ?

You should use the whole case from one or another, dont mix the cases...that could be your problem...

what are you trying to do exactly? just use the 5th gear?

im not a top tech guy, but from my experience, you shouldn't mix and match tranny halfs. gears yes, but your changing the spacing of the clearence between the shaft and case. if the gears don't move freely then you have to many spacers that are supposed to take up slack. if you have no spacers in then you obviosuly cna't mix and match case halfs.

no i took the whole gear assembly, mainshaft and countershaft from an h22 tranny and put it into an accord bottom housing. then took the prelude top housing and put it on top. bolted up just wouldnt work perfectly right. Tried doing something and obviously its not gonna work so now i need to find another prelude transmission. Ehh it was worth a try

the clutch housings for the accord and lude have diff part numbers, but the transmission housing is the exact same for both (least for 92-97 accords and 92-96 ludes).
