Default need help removing pinion assembly from the rack.

i've dropped the steering rack to change the rack end bushing. the rack is out of the car and all torn apart. rack guide components (2-5) have been removed. dust cover (#8) and 35mm snapring (#37) has also been removed. Looks like 6,7, and 38 should come out as 1 piece but it's stuck. any tips for removal are greatly appreciated.

you shouldnt be trying to take apart the pinion bearing. theres no reason to.

there is a c clip holding the bearing on the pinion if you really want to repalce it.

agreed because it has nothing to do with the REB. here's why i want to remove it. Once i cleaned up some of the grease i found signs of overheating on the rack. the rack guide is scored as well so i figured i should tear it down and see how bad the scoring is and check the teeth on the rack while i'm at it.

The 35mm c clip was removed with snap ring pliers and i expected it to come out but it's hasn't.

thanks for your help.

well the bearing is press fit. you need a bearing puller to take it and the pinion out. you cant reuse that bearing once you pull it out.
