Well like the topic says. How has everyone gotten around the fact that you have hondata in a 96 or newer vehicle? Is the hook-up the only way or is there another?

You could make a board that takes communicates with the Hondata box and have it act as an intermediary that fools the OBD2 diagnostic equipment. It would need to able fool a lot of things though. OBD2 can erase codes too.

A PIC might be able to do it.

 

Well I guess the only way to retain OBD2 & be emissions compliant would be a good piggyback fuel management system. (if that exsists) I guess I should start a new topic then?

 

i have obd1 injectors that fit in my rc plugs
i have mystock map sensor still on my tb, and the harness plug still wired in.
i just swap the map and injectors, and put in stock ecu and don't boost.

 

You can run the OBd-1 ecu , it will not read the ECu when they try to connect to the port, but here in CT if the obd2 port doesnt work ,they just sniff the car

 

hmmmmmmmm so I guess if i have a 3bar map sensor with the sensor hole blocked off I wouldnt be able to revert back to my stock ECU which is OBD2. How about your injectors even though your in boost your not throwing a CEL for running too rich?

It's not that easy anymore Josh.... have you been recently?

 

day before emissions:
put in stock ecu
put in stock injectors
put in stock map sensor
drive 50 miles.
get tested.

done

anyhoo....if you go on the ctdmv's website they clearly state that .......some 1996 and newer vehicles will not respond to the obd2 scanning...in this case the car will be sniffed

CO levels were below limits
N levels were below limits
......HC limit was like 167 ppm.....i hit 167 ppm!!!!! *** you DMV hahaha

 

if i'm not mistaken you can still run your turbo and **** but you'd ahve to run a VERY conservative tune...at least for the trip to and from the test site

print up a hard copy of a couple of the pages of the dmv's site stating such...(you should be able to find it easily) and make sure to place them on your passenger seat when you hand the tech your keys...make sure they are in PLAIN site...**** i failed 2x before and did this and snuck by under the radar!

oh yeah...very important....when u do go for your appointment....make sure it's good and warmed up and make sure to leave the car running
if you shut the car off the catalytic converter will cool down and not burn as much

 

Ive never heard of the DMV emissions being like that here in VA. It should be the same everywhere at every DMV except for CA ha!!! thats one thing they dont get!!! but they get all the hot chicks and awsome weather.......whatever...

In light of this new info I will have to dig deeper and find out if that is in fact possible here gettin the sniffer for 96 & up...

you'd have to check your local restrictions first....then you can try to figure a away around it

 

OBD2 means that for emissions testing, they will hook up a scanner to the diag port and if there are any codes you fail.

Ask me how I know, I failed 3 times (me = OBD2 in MD)

The cost effective way to pass is to retain the stock ECU, use a piggy back of some sort, I chose Emanage after the SAFC-2 did not work too well, and a o2 simulator for the o2 sensor on the cat.

Works pretty good. The only problem that I have is that the injectors I'm running are larger than supported (440s). That has caused a few minor issues, but will be resolved this winter.

 

oh so neither emanage or ultimate emanage support anything larger than 440cc?
