92 Accord Brake Flush with ABS
I have a 92 Accord EX with ABS and need to flush the brakes because power steering fluid was put in accidentally and all the rubber hoses and master cylinder needs to be replaced. I have a manual for the car and in the hose replacement and brake flush section right at the beginning it states "warning! if your car has abs do not flush on your own, have a dealer or professional flush because there is a special tool required". What is this special tool and is it possible to do on your own with it (or without it)?
The "special tool" is for opening the bleed screw on the ABS unit. You don't really have to have it. When you are bleeding out the ABS cycle the key and let the pump build some pressure, shut the key off and then attach some tubing to the bleed nipple and put the other end into an empty bottle, then just barely crack open the bleed screw to let the pressure off. Repeat as needed.
Just bear in mind that ABS pump can run up HIGH PRESSURE.
Keep a couple cans of spray Brake Clean on hand to get any spilled brake fluid off of paint. The brake fluid will eat paint.
