Hi, I am planning on buying a civic hatch. My decision will come down to which swap is easier and will give me more for my money. So if I was to buy a eg hatch I want to do a b16a swap. If I was to buy a ek hatch I want to do a b18b swap. I also want to know what type of obd both hatches are running stock? Could someone help me out by giving me more info.

 

The EG will be the easier to swap a motor. It is OBD1.

The EK will need slightly more work. 96-98 is OBD2A, 99-00 is OBD2B.

 

i use to own a eg hatch with gsr swap and now im driving a ek hatch with b18b. their basically the same besides the appearance. 92-95 are obd1. 96-98 obd2a. 99-00 obd2b.

 

EK looks better, get an EK. Also there is less wiring with an EK. Get the EK stop thinking about it...

 

there's actually more wiring with the ek depending on the setup. If u want an easier swap then just get a 92-95 vx or si since they're already setup for vtec which means u wont need to tap for it. Depending on the motor that u're throwing into ur ek u'll need to find the wiring harness that fits into it.
