B16 builds in the 12-14 second 1/4 mile times
Any B16 enthusiast knows that it was one of the originators of this honda craze today.
Anyone on honda tech and I...would like to know about you b16 builders out there that are dipping into the low numbers on the quarter mile.
Whats your setup? How fast? What chassis? Tranny? Dyno #'s? b16 builders stand up.....

good stuff keep it coming......
my motor almost broken in cant wait
hoping for a low 14 maybe 13 in my CRX
b16s need to represent...these bigger disp. builder say we dont have torque but lets show em some numbers and most of all the ability to rev high (the fun part)

Should be able to get to a 12.7-12.8 with better 60ft.Whats the weight of the car?

See what i mean....b16s can really fly.
Been lovin em since i could drive. And the CRX is the perfect candidate for the motor. Too much torque and your just spinning em off the line...

sounds like a lot of goodies but we just thru this thing together in one weekend from **** layin in the garage.

the only reason b16's actually move is cause the tranny i bet you times would be alot different with an ls trans.

put a more built b18c1 in a crx than what you are talking about and try to launch as hard a b16 with the same tires and you wont launch as good.....too much torque all motor for crx is possible but if you really have the right setup and know how to drive you will yield better times.....
and about the LS trans....why would you ever want an LS trans on a b16 to begin with or any all motor app goin 1/4 mile?
and about the LS trans....why would you ever want an LS trans on a b16 to begin with or any all motor app goin 1/4 mile?

are you seriously trying to tell people that MORE TORQUE means a potentially slower car because you "wont launch as good?
no. i thought you might be halfway intelligent until i heard that.
youll notice that the few fast b16s out there are the ones that make more than 118wtq or so.
i dont get people that say "right set up and good driver and youll go fast" does that just sound good when you read it back to yourself? as if you know what your talking about? wow....good thread

i just can NOT stand waiting for the revs to climb with a 77.4mm crank. yea you may be able to rev to the moon but boy do they climb slowly in comparison to an 89mm crank motor.

dont hate man (deftones) just because weve got some awesome b16 kickin butt here....
dont be offended this thread isnt to say they (b16s) reign supreme because of course like i said before if you do have more torque and know how to handle it then OF COURSE read carefully now.... you will yield better times(must have tires, suspension, and clutch= right setup). most people new or semi new to the track cant pull off a good launch with too much torque. just read between the lines b16 are really good motors because of their monetary effenciency and they are really light and still produce good power which is a great option for an already light car (crx)
more displacement is the means for more torque and more torque means go faster but less weight will always be easier to push or pull (rwd) off the line. more torque can make up for the weight but a b16 is a perfect candidate for a crx....
so love it or hate it but keep it real man this all about hondas EVEN YOURS

weight is they key but deftones must be deft because he doesnt seem to get it...
think about it man...im not disagreeing with anything u have to say
put a stock gsr/b20/k20 into a perfectly stock crx = crazy wheel hop/bad traction(from a dig)
now put a stock b16 (or semibuilt)swap into a perfectly stock crx = good ****
this is where i stress RIGHT SETUP meaning traction bars, drag radials/slicks, and tuned suspension to handle the very dramatically increased torque when building a bigger disp. motor.
WHY do you think a geo metro has small tires stock? low tq./weight
WHY do you think a Corvette has big tires and nice suspension? more tq./weight
you have to have a lot more car to handle a lot more power and when your trying to stay light weight and not turn your car into a DRAG car you would definetly consider a b16 or not(im guessing in your case) so go built b18/b20 and then youll have to spend a lot more on other mods to compliment, but this thread being for b16 enthusiasts we are discussing b16s.
now relatively speaking if you dont like b16s or this thread then check out something else......its soooo funny how serious you are and how bad you want to argue but i never contradicted anything you have stated.
never said: torque will make you slower!! i said it would make it more difficult to handle especially off the line meaning you need more mods
but for an easy quick motor the b16 is great for the crx, wanna spend a lot and go faster then GET THE RIGHT SETUP LEARN HOW TO DRIVE AND BUILD YOU A B18 B20 K20 but if you like your B16 and your money still in your wallet like i like mine then keep on postin im seeing some good stuff
