Default LMA removal question....

alright i have a b16a head im about to put a supertech valvetrain with s2s2 cams.... i was told to get some gsr lma's instead of the b16 lma's....

is this wise???

and if so how the heck do i get them outa my blown gsr head i have laying around???

If any1 is wondering the setup its a fully rebuilt jdm type R block with the b16 head supertech valvetrain witht the supertech high compression valves and debating on either pro 1's, pro 2's, or some bc 4's....

thx in advance!!!

very wise to do this. the rocker arms and rails must be removed for the lma to pull out.

Also Be sure to keep your rocker assemblies in sets and proper location.

im just asking if there is a reason to... if he is replacing the cams there is no reason for them to go back into the same spot, even then there really isnt. you would have to do a valve adjustment anyway.

pretty easy to remove... first you need to start by going to Sears and getting a 10mm allen head socket. you will need it to get the caps off the end of the head. there are 3 of them. two on the cam gear side and one under the dizzy. remove all them and dont lose the washers (your suppose to replace them though). oh and there are little orifice tube things that hide under the caps on the dizzy side of the head, you need to find a bolt that threads in so you can pull them out. then jam your finger in the hole lol and push the rod out the other side. like they said you want to keep the rockers all together cuz there are little bearing/pins in them, if you lose them your fucked (Honda only sells them with the rocker pad set ~$150)....

install is just the reverse... good luck

oh and i dont think its so much the surface as there is a higher spring rate in the LMA in the later GSR/ITR's...

It is important to keep the factory matched sets than exact location. It is good practice to keep the proper locations of all valvetrain components.

at this point if you havent looked at the head and figured it out you probably shouldnt be working on such a project. i have little faith this project will be finished by you and you only.

wow ok..... first of all it will be but when u have never removed them its kinda weird.... i have removed the 3 allen head bolts and washers and then i threaded a bolt in to get the rails out but they wont budge....

im more trying to figure out the LMA's...

do they just pop out once the rocker arms are out or what???

alright, now your getting somewhere. there are 2 "pins" that sit down inside the head underneath the first cam caps on the cam gear side. pull those out and then your rocker arms will slide out.
