Trouble picking cams...ls/vtec????
I have an ls/vtec with 12.5:1 comp. and am having trouble deciding on a set of valvetrain setup that will work best with my needs. I plan on driving the car on the weekends and going to the local road course quite often with this car. i'm not looking for just ultimate top end but would like it to have a strong midrange while still pulling up top. right now i have some ITR cams with i don't think will cut it as the compression is bumped quite a bit.
i am in the same exact boat as 91jdmhatchback. what cams for my 12.2-12.5:1 ls/v setup. not a daily driver, but looking for all around power, not just a top end car..... i am a little confused about the hole "degreeing the cam" thing. during assembly of the motor u degree them, then u need to adjust the cam gears while on the dyno. dosnt that delete the purpose for degreeing.... i am asking a question here, please school me on this topic....
Generally, if you degree them on the stand, to the correct numbers, you gain nothing moving them around on the dyno. You are just fixing what the builder got wrong. You can move the range a little, but not a big gain if done correctly from the start.
thanks for the responce...
now it makes more sence. how important really is degreeing cams, since max power can be done on the dyno.. i ask because i am going to be breaking in my motor with the stock cams, exaust, etc. to get through inspection... then it will be getting the cams, injectors, and header/exaust for the tune... i would assume that it would be tough to degree the cams while the motor is in the car.
thanks for the info..

Probably the Pro2. It has arange of 4000-8700. I have run the Pro springs to 9500 with no aparent float, and the pressures stayed constant after checking them.
