Default Did i Swap in a blown motor?!!!

I just finished finally finishing all minor problems and hosing and **** and i just got my car started... at first i could breathe and say finally. but now im pissed as hell because the motor sounds like its blown. I hear a pinging sound on cylinder one well its a knocking sound its not as bad as wen i blew my b7 but lets just say its bad enough for people to turn around wen u drive around the block. How can i diagnose what causing the knocking to do it. I just finish swapping this motor in So Ill intend on keeping it and fix w.e the hell this knocking noise is. If i take it to a local shop HOW much would the parts/labor be together more or less .

my friend was in a similar situation, his swapped c5 had a spun bearing that the seller didnt tell us about. Cost him about 1.5K to get it fixed along with some other minor stuff. Good luck

wow that sucks man, make sure your timing is ok, if it is.... you may want to start looking for another engine

Edit: To awnser your question, I think its going to be hard to tell weather or not its a spun rod bearing or a bad wrist pin... Thats what I thought was my problem but when I took all of it apart it turned out to be a spun rod bearing.

If its a D series engine, you'd probably be better off buying another one rather than tring to fix it, I think most of the people here would agree with me.

I spent about two weeks swapping this motor off i just bought it for 300 off a local honda-tech member..i dont think its worth it me having to buy another engine ill just build the bottom i guess my friend and i are gonna take it apart ..hes a mechanic so i trust his work and we will see what the problem is but i think im gonna buy eagle rods if it is the rod i guess i can build for boost? Is that a times waste if i wanna boost to keep this engine rebuild the internal?
