Default Advantages and Disadvantages of dumping to the Atmosphere (wastegate)

hey guys just wondering if the only advantage of dumping to the Atmosphere is quicker spool up time, and the disadvantages are; noise, and you will get spit fire every now and then?

Which is a better setup? if you dont care about the noise....

the dump tube configuration should not affect spool because it would be physically impossible for the wastegate valve to open before spooling. The turbo will have already spooled up prior to the wastegate valve opening. If you're just running on th e spring, then obviously the gate will start opening just before target boost pressure is achieved, but technically the turbo will have already spooled.

How much power are you trying to make? I feel that as long as you can meet your power goals you should keep your dump tube recirculated into the main exhaust pipe. With my setup, I initially had the wastegate dumping to atmosphere..it stunk, it sounded horrible, and just was not worth it.

Ultimately it's your choice. You may not care about the noise now, but you might change your mind after a while of having your car sound like a big moped.
