Headlight...stability?

Yeah, so I wanted brighter bulbs for my '95 EX but didn't want to go through the hastle of doing an HID conversion or something of the sort (something where I'd need an amplifier or special "unit" or "extra wiring" for the conversion), so picked a pair of Sylvanias silverstar 903's (or something to that effect) at advance autoparts or autozone (forgot which). So I put them in...and I kind of ran into problems.
Now of course you're saying "how can you have problems installing a headlight bulb installation." -- I don't know.

This is an image from slhonda parts, I circled in red on the main housing the four bolts that hold the housing in and as far as I can tell that's all that hold it in and as far as the corner light that seems that it's simply held in by the one clip/screw combo with a slide onto the main headlight (that I have circled as well).
If there's anymore mount locations please tell me.
So I take OUT the housing on the driver's side, replace the bulb, and then I mount THREE out of the four bulbs. I realize that there's a "fourth"....maybe..on the inside (the one closest to the grill) that I didn't take out and sure as hell didn't put back in. So if you push on that side of the headlight it can move in a bit....Any idea why? Now before you go saying "it's going in because there's no bolt on that side" - I took out the passenger housing and there was only 3 in that one, no inside bolt again, but even with every bolt swapped back and forth between the two the passenger is rock solid and the driver's side can be pushed in. I can't figure it out. I'll try buying a new bolt set as the improper bolts are holding it in from the sides anyways but like I said, I swapped all the bolts in every order possible (9 combos) and they all have the same result on that one side.
I can't figure it out and it's annoying the **** outta me... bulbs shine great, but you can tell they're not even when driving fast as the air creates pressure and dips the bulb down a bit...not enough so I can't see, enough that it pisses me off though.
Anybody have any ideas on what the hell it is or something similiar happen to them?
PS:
Do I have to take out the housing everytime I wanna take out the bulb? On the passenger side it's all clear, just remove the filter on the intake (short ram intake) and got plenty of room to put the bulb in, but on the driver's side there's all the PS crap there so you can't really get to the bulb...is there any way to get in there easily w/o pulling the entire housing? Like pulling a piece of the PS system or something?
Thanks in advance and any help is appreciated.

I've never had to remove anything to get at headlight bulbs in an eg. I replaced my bulbs when I had my 92 si and I don't recall ever having to move the PS pump, bracket or resevoir to get to it. I just fit my hand down there, pulled the rubber off, moved the metal clip out of the way and took the bulb out.

Oh...well mine's got screws and a weird bracket 'n ****..can't just fit ur hand down there :-\ Or maybe you can, I don't know, it's not really that important to me, what's more important is the part where you can push in on it

ive had 3 eg's, never once have i had to take out the housing to change the bulb
just unplug the harness
remove the grommet thing, there is a clip, undo that, bulb comes out.
install is reverse.

yea, like the others stated, you don't have to take out your entire head light unit in order to change out your bulbs...you just have to remove the rubber cover, unclip the bulb from housing, take bulb out and re-install...for the driver side, you can just move your ps system away enough to get behind there to change your bulb....
simple as that.......................
and for the bolt that is on the inside part, you should have those on the headlights....unless they were broken before........make sure you have that slid in to place and tighten it down with a nut......that will solve your problem....
good luck man

Alright, let's get a few things straight.
I realize some of you aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer, but I'm sure it's not possible that people can be as dumb as you are making yourselves out to be.
I changed the bulbs, I said that. Never said anything about not getting the bulbs in. So
at the ******** who threw that one at me. I can't apologize for your kindergarden teacher's actions in the event that you can't read worth of ****.
With that said...for the people wondering why I pulled the housing -

As you can see sometimes getting to the driver's side bulb can be a problem, it's a lot easier if u just pop the housing out a bit to make some room..it's 3 bolts and a screw..obviously it didn't proove that easy this time, but it should have :-\.
Any real info would be greatly appreciated.
As for the ****** answers...well...there's nothing society can do about you degenerate **** suckers.
So I hope somebody at the bottom of the food chain (higher than you guys of course) steals your ******* car, then I can laugh when I see your pathetic topic here being reporting that your car got jacked.

Yeah, hahaha, that's funny...
Guess it would actually make sense if I asked where the light bulb was, wouldn't it? Though seeing as reading supercedes your knowledge base you wrote that on a diagram and reposted it. Though I didn't ask that so your post just proves that your inability to read has conquered you once again. If the world had your intelligence we'd be fucked.

Honestly. I just did mine in my EX today and I have to admit that the driver's side one WAS kind of a bitch to get to.
The trick is to pull the power steering resevoir out of the way and tuck it away somewhere. Just make sure you don't spill the fluid.
But if you really have your heart set on yanking the entire assembly out, I believe that there are two screws on the top that go into the egg shaped holes. (easy to get to)
After you undo the side marker you can get to the one on the side. (easy too)
The one that goes towards the inside is kind of a bitch to get to. When I changed my headlights out I think I went as far as pulling the bumper off. Not quite sure on this one anymore, but I remember it not being fun to get to.

i have a 00 civic and it looks the same...just pull out the PS fluid resevoir from its bracket, and angle it out of the way...that should leave enough room for your hand to fit...hope this helps...

Got one of those too, and I have the hardest time changing my bulb out on that side. Luckily I've only had to do it once in the damn near 7 years I've owned the damn thing.

He's not asking for goddamned tips on replacing the bulbs. Whether or not it's required to remove the housings isn't the issue at hand.
My best guess as to the mobility of the housing is that you haven't lined up the bottom two studs perfectly in the brackets before putting the nuts back on. It's also possible that you're pushing on the lens and it's moving inside the adjuster a little bit - which is completely normal. As long as you can't just jerk it out of the core support, you're fine.

Alright, thank you, I'll check tomorrow.

there are only three actual BOLTS that hold the light in, the very inside mounting place is a stud and a nut. make sure the stud slides into the little U bracket that you can see through the hole, thats what the nut tightens down onto. hope that helps

Oh **** u serious?
Yeah, that'd be 32 / 9 on the pic, right?
Damn, yeah, I don't have one of those...musta broke off or something..but there was never one there, somebody musta busted it before I got the car. Though there's not one on the other side either and that doesn't move at all.
So based on that I got two options:
1) Buy a replacement housing/adjustment bracket
2) Deal with it the way it is..
Ya I thought something went there into that little fork, I guess that's probably what it is, looks like there's a nut (32) that screws onto the stud that keeps it held into that fork...
Only thing that really bothers me is the other one doesn't have it either (not even lined up with the fork, off like 1/2 - 1", but I'm sure that's adjustable by where u tighten down the other 3 bolts) and it's rock solid.
So I'm thinking maybe something inside the inner bracket is busted to the outter bracket opposed to just something not being bolted in...although I'll check right now to see if there's a stud on the other side, I don't think there is but I may have overlooked it.
So in all probability I'm going to need a new driver's side headlight housing, right?
I'm sure I can pick one up from a junkyard...sure as hell aint payin 200 bux for one brand new...just throw in the new sylvanias silverstar (903's or 1903's or something to that effect) (which work great btw, buy 'em, if ur like me and too cheap to do an HID conversion but you want brighter lights, get them, them ***** are nice) and be ready to roll...I'll go check to see if there's a stud on the passenger's side.

Yeah I just went out there and checked. Neither the driver's side nor the passenger's side has any kind of stud coming up from that hole into the fork. From what I can tell if I stabilize the stud location to where the fork is the headlight won't move in.
So I guess I'll just have to look for that stud/washer (32/9). In the meanwhile the passenger's side doesn't have the stud either and it's rock solid...which just confuses the **** outta me. Although I reckon if I install the stud there, the driver's side headlight should be stabilized...
I'm just gonna get a whole new bolt/clip/screw set for both sides since some of th botls were mis-matches 'n **** by whoever took the housings out before me
. Was gonna buy from slhondaparts.com, they're reputable 'n all, right?

Yeah, I found a bolt in my basement, installed it.
I ran into more problems and I think I know where it's coming from

So I took a look at it, bored out the hole a bit more (b/c it's not a full circle). Found a bolt in my basement.
Here's the bolt/nut I used:

Here's what it looked like when I installed it.

And here's what it looked like when I tightened down all the bolts:

I don't ******* get it, it's all in the groove, everything's lined up and bolted in, and it's allll fucked up.
I didn't really put 2 and 2 together too soon (yeah that's a lot of "two's") but the ride get shaky at 80+ mph and it has 100% balance and 100% alignment...
When I hit a deer, the guy who was gonna do the body work was getting ready to go on vacation. Like the day before he left I asked him if he got any work done on it, he said yeah, threw it on the frame machine (left rail was a bit down, you can view the pix of my car when I got into the accident here ) - but he was packing and getting his **** together all that day so it musta not been bad right..?
I'm starting to get this vibe that my car didn't even see the frame machine, at all. I think the frame rail's still bent. It would explain why it shakes at high speeds, it would also explain why the light isn't lining up 100%. The more I think of the events circum the time the frame got "pulled" - the more I'm thinking I got shafted. I don't think my car even saw that frame machine.
If I'm ever able to sell my GTI (which for some reason nobody wants to buy
) I'ma take it and get it scanned with a lazer frame machine for like 400 bux from a guy I know who runs a pro shop....if I find out that it's outta spec w/o me getting into any accidents w/ it and the other guy claimed he fixed it (and billed me for it)....I'ma go down there...and it's not gonna be pretty, b/c I'm probably going to have a breaker bar or something of the sort in my hand.
I'm starting to think I got shafted when I got my car fixed...I think the frame might still be bent a bit.
If it is bent, that would be why the haedlights didn't lign up with the inner holes...that's why he didn't put bolts in there.
I hope I'm wrong but I might be right....though that bolt job I did on there secured the headlight very well, as you can see from the last pic, it's very well off key and all the bolts are in right.
