Default Purolator Fuel Filter

Anyone have a fitment problem with these filters? Last time I tried to change it on my car, the stupid filter wouldn't screw in properly. Stupid car went from 32-36mpg to 25-27 lately, so i'm going to switch out all the iginition related stuff. Just wondering if anyone else has that prob and if i should just pick one up from the stealership.

I installed a purolator fuel filter, it was exactly like the OEM on my 92 RS. Man, when I turned the old filter upside down, the crap that came out was disturbing.

exactly the same? i noticed that it was different from the one that i installed a while back. the one i had used gold and not silver grommets and was made in some other random country. someone must have returned the stupid thing to autozone stuffed with a different filter or something.
