Have a question for an 92-95 JDM H22A belt..
I'm asking a question for my friend on here. He's getting a JDM H22a engine swapped into a 96 civic hatch ex. The place he bought the motor from accidently cut the belt that goes to the alternator and AC condensor. Anyways, his engine isnt going to have Power Steering or the AC condensor (sp) so he's only going to be running one belt thats shorter then normal. That's going to go around the alternator only. So my question is this; What would the necessary size of the belt need to be in order to run over the crank, and alternator? I understand the JDM belt is different then the USDM but most have said they've successfully ran a USDM belt w/ little to no problems. Anyways any information from you all would be helpful. I did do a search for JDM h22a belt and thats how I found out that people have been using the USDM belt safely w/ little to no problems. Thanks in advance for your help!! I'll still continue to search around.
Is this w/o the PS pump and AC condensor installed? Or is this the length of the belt w/ everything installed?
Also can you confirm for me that a USDM belt will work? Thanks alot bro!

Ok on an H22, there are 2 belts.

Because this one has like 3 lines that go through the length of the belt, not the V shape of the USDM belts, or so i've been told.
Well the only thing thats going to be on the engine is the Alternator so the belt has to be long enough to reach that alone and thats it.. No PS and AC will be installed on the vehicle nor will it be on the engine.

I havent had any problems using usdm belts on my jdm h22. 37 inches is what i used. Search ac belt in archived and recent, you'll find plenty of threads.

Or just take a string and wrap it around what pulleys you're going to use. Then go to the parts store and ask for a belt with however many ribs you need and the length. Might take some trial an error to find the right size, so keep the receipt and packaging.

So even if he's only goign to be using the Alt and thats it, 37"'s is the correct size? or is this the size for using the Alt + AC?

I'll mention this idea to him and see what he thinks. I'm sure this will actually really work but we're never sure until we try... Like you said, trial and error

Well you know what I just thought? He doesnt have the car, a local shop is doing the swap for him. Now I know it's their responsibility to find the correct belt, but he was promised the car in early October and they've been going back and forward with Hasport about the harness and jumper cable, etc.. so they just now finally got everything to install the engine. They had to extend the fuel lines (not sure why other than they didnt reach) and having to do this with the belt. Me and my friend want to find this out as soon as possible so we dont haft to wait for their delay anymore, because it's been over a month, almost two since the promised date of the car being done that they're just now finally getting this close to being done so we want to "help" the process in any way possible, and since this is the "missing link" if you will, we'd like to find out ASAP so he could buy the belt tomorrow and give it to them
Sorry for the long response

awesome that string idea is a freaking sweet idea, im gonna call him tomorrow and see what the progress is thanks for all the help, and i may just run down there messure with the string and find me a belt tomorrow
FYI everyone, This is my boy who's getting the swap done, so any other questions that require more specific answers should be asked to him lol. He's got more info than me, I just know what I was told and hear from the main mang! I cant wait for this to be done tho.... It's going to be alot faster than his civic and my DA..

The alternator has about 2.5-3 inches of adjustment and for clearance reasons I used belts as small as K060345 but now I use K060370. These are Carquest belts but I dont know what vehicle they are for. The numberic portion of these numbers are the same between brands but they just mean 6 ribbed belt and the last 3 are in inches. Hope this helps.
The K060345 is the absolute smallest with the adjustment hardware taken off. It fits, but you have to turb the crankshaft to get it on.

OK, so just to clarify, having this engine w/ no PS pump or AC compressor, running only the alternator, one of the two part numbers from carquest will work for his application? And you're also saying that if the belt is a little longer/bigger then needed, the alternator can be adjusted to pick up the slackfor up to 2 1/2 - 3"'s right?

Thats correct, these belts are for just an alternator and crank pully. I would recommend the K060370 if clearance is not an issue. I just mentioned the other one to show the smallest one that will fit, but its difficult. The K060370 is more common also and a parts store should have it in stock.
You if they don't have it, a 365,360,355,350,345 will also fit.

Well since we werent able to find a carquest, (in all honesty we didnt really look) we did the string idea, went to Autozone and picked up the right belt on the 2nd try, first try was too short. Now we go on monday to a place called Peco's so they can make a custom fuel line from the filter to the fuel rail. After that, they should be ready to drop her in. I'll get on now and post pictures that I just took of the engine. It's soo clean, I cant believe he found an engine in that good of condition and so clean.
Check back in a few minutes for the pictures. Thanks for reading! oh and the help/support for this!

Engine's getting put in tomorrow. All that's left is the fuel line from the filter to the fuel rail, i'll pick that up at like 9 and bring it to the place at 10:15 or so.. We'll have more after pictures once the swap's installed
