i was planning on getting an intake for my del sol, but i needed to know if there are differences, if any, between the years. i know there are different engines among the years of the del sol, but did the way of the intake change? i ran a search on ebay and some intakes say for 93 to 95 and others with 96 to 97. thanks.

 

well, it would help to know what Sol + engine you have.

I ordered a AEM cia for a 95' del Sol Si and one for a 97' Si and was told there are the same. The 95' is a auto and the 97' is a 5 speed. Did they goof when I place the order? I believed them cause the engine is different (D16z and D16Y) but everything else looks the same as far as the throttle body location and air filter.

The year shouldn't matter. Which engine you are using should be what matters.

 

Just an FYI......my Iceman from the original D16Z6 (del Sol Si) fit nicely on the new B16A2 without problems. I think that the newer S models might have a funky TB position, compared to the older cars, but I've not poked around under the hood of an S recently.

93-97 Si and 93-95 S Sol's use the same inatke piping setup. The 96-97 S D16Y7 has the drop down style intake which uses a 96+ Civic DX style piping.

well i have a 97 del sol si.

 

then get a intake for a civic 97-98 d16y8, i think thats an Si then for that gen. Del Sols share the same frame and engine bay almost exactly as the civics did.

hydbriddreams, I hope this helps alil instead of hurting, but Intakes for model of sol S,Si, VTEC can be different becuase the engines are different. The years that had the same engine. i.e. 93-95, can use the same intake for same model, but the 96-97 will use a different intake becuase the engine changed.

Except the VTEC engine stayed the same alll 5 years, so the intake would be the same.
