torn motormount
well, i get bored on thanksgiving day every year and start a project so today i decided i would do Tyson's DIY of stiffening motormounts. the front mount is torn about 2/3 of the way and i was wondering if I should replace it? I got two pieces of 1/2" outer diameter fuel line stuffed in the open areas to hold it tight, and then two pieces of 1/4" inner diameter fuel line to make it even more solid. it feels alright and is pretty stiff. It is stiffer than the stock drivers side mount. Am i good to go with this setup? I will eventually get another front mount, but will this be safe to use for a few months in the spring? thanks in advance
i know iv asked this before but never got a real answer... is it possible to just fill in the motor mount with window sealer with the mounts still in the car? i dont see why not
edit: never mind i just went out and looked at the mounts.. for some reason i thought they were more open then they are. its impossible to do a good job with window sealer if they are in the car.

i dont want the vibration of window weld. I just got back from a test drive, and its raining here so i did about three burnouts. all dumping the clutch at different rpms. no wheel hop, no vibration increase. i am thrilled to death it worked so good. i have two more mounts to do.
so did you do this with the mounts on the car? or off the car? sounds interesting. i know my front mount is done and would like to fix it till spring.
i took the mount off. um, i pulled it up on ramps, then put a jack under the engine just to where it wouldnt move with the front mount off. then i did as was done with this write up from tyson. i also did the drivers side mount, and have to do the other two yet. i didnt notice any vibration increase, and now whenever i decel, i dont feel the shifter move anymore. and very very minimal wheel hop. it only hops a tiny bit but when the wheels are spinning slow. it is great and cheap. here ya go...its easy. one pointer, i sprayed some lube on the the rubber mount to help slide in the hose, and then heated the hose with a heat gun so it was more pliable.

yeah, the one in my write up was pretty much torn too. i still use it, same one on my second crx. its got over 230K miles.
ive never really tried doing any other engien mount. i figured the rear would be the next logical one, except its so hard to get to, not impossible, but just too much of a pain. im happy with just the front engine mounts great improvement.
i dunno how the driver and passenger side ones would really affect tho. theyre pretty beefy as it is.

and you got extra vibration...
i dont understand why ppl are so enamored over using some messy window weld crap either. 6" of rubber fuel line only costs like 50 cents. thats all you need. take it out if you dont like it after. because "i guarantee it"
