I am sure you know you can get a hard top....but my S2000 handles much better than my Type R did and it is much faster in a straight line. I don't think the soft top hurts the cars structure or rigidity at all.
I haven't heard any thing about a coupe...I heared a rumor some where that there is going to be a AWD, but I can't remember where I read it.

 

it's not that i want more rigidity. the hardtop looks SOOOOOOOOO good. I just wish it were smoothed out and made into a coupe.

 

I think they should offer both a convertable and a coupe.

now, what i really wish would happen is Honda to produce a freakin I6 dohc vtec and put some badboy torque in that baby then we'll be talkin.

 

If I bought an S2K, anything to do with the soft top would be pulled out and a CF hardtop put on....

 

A convertible does in fact hurt structural rigidity, its just that Honda compensated for it in the design of the S2000 chassis. Thus an S2000 based sport coupe would probably end up being stiffer.

I doubt Honda would make an S2000 coupe though. The only thing that might come close would be a RWD Prelude replacement.
