Problems associated with powdercoating
I am planning on powdercoating my calipers, caliper brackets, rear lower control arm, front lower control arm, and possibly the rear trailing arm and front spindle. I was just wondering if there might be any problems. I have searced around and found out that powdercoating weakens any forged metal, through annealing (sp). Has anyone powdercoated these parts before, and should I be worried at all?

You will have to completly strip everthing to bare metal, They "bake the paint on". All bushings and the pistons in the calipers need to be removed. It would look nice if you did do it though. I was goin to do it myself. Good amount of work and Some money.

annealing occurs @ temps well above 700c
the heating process associated with powdercoating will see temps of about 200c
so its a relatively harmless process

Im not to worried about stripping everything because I plan on replacing all bushings and rebuilding the calipers.
Thanks for the replies

I found a company that powder coats there calipers. They use OE calipers not a bad price either. But if your comfortable rebuilding thats respectable. Have you ever rebuilt a Honda caliper?

I have not rebuilt calipers yet, but figured I might try. I have searched around and it does not seem to bad to do. If you could send me the link to the place your referring to.
Edit - I pm'd TRD-Coating and asked him and sent him a link to this thread, if he doesn't post a reply in here i'll post what his response to me.

Keep an eye out for my build thread which can be found in my sig. But it will be a slow build so it might be a while.
