i was wondering what is the big advantage of having a drag rim that is light weight, like the lenso's which are 9 lbs or the weld's that are 6 lbs i think? i was searching and found some 13"x8" rims to mount my slicks on, but they are 13-14lbs each. are there any disadvantages to running a rim that is a little bit heavier like this one? what are the pro's and cons, and is it a bad idea? remember, i am not racing in a class or anything, i'm just a weekend racer.
it all depends on your budget and the look you want for the car. the Weld and Bogart are great wheels for the weight and the function. Of course less weight at the wheels, the better. But if youre jus a weekend occasional racer, I dont know if your budget will accomodate the price of the Bogart and Welds. They will run about $500-$700 new for a pair of 13" fronts. For the rears Welds I believe are in the $850 range for a pair.
Alot of people get the VPD from us since its an economical choice for most people. We have the 2 front 13" at under $300/pair and we are manufacturing the 15x3.5" skinny at this time for about the same price. So for a full set you're in for under $600.00
As far as weight. of course you want to stay away from wheels over 10lbs each. The lighter the better as long as they are strong.
