injector question
hey ive been trying to get my rex runnin for atleast a month but its not getting fuel its not the main relay becasue ive tried 3 other ones so thats not it but i was told to check the ground....and he also said that on older cars the ground is the resistor box so you bolt it down and it will be grounded...is that true??? if thats not true then what is the ground for the injectors and rail??? please help HT this is taking way too long to correct
Here's how the injector circuit works:
12v+ flows from the battery, fuse panel, through the main relay, to the injector resistor box which converts it to 5.5v+ then it flows to the Injector itself. Ground happens at the ECU - completing the circuit, the injector fires.
If your main relay is clicking, check your grounds, check your fuses.
The thermostat housing ground is the most important.
I've spent 30 minutes on the phone with someone who told me the thermostat ground was perfect. Finally i was able to convince him to just loosen the 10mm bolt and re-do it to make sure, it fell right off, wasn't tight at all - whole problem, car had been down for 6 months.
Glancing at them and thinking "looks ok" isn't being thurough enough.

Follow your lower rad hose to the thermostat housing. There should be three 10mm nuts, two to hold the housing on and the other one is the thermostat ground. I went through the same problem.Good luck.

The resistor box is just that...resistors. The injectors get voltage from the main relay through the resistor box and then the ECU provides the ground to trigger them. With the ignition set to run, measure the connector(s) for the injectors and see if you've got volts there. If not, the problem is upstream (relay, fuse, ign switch, wiring, etc.) If you get volts at the injectors, the problem is downstream (wiring, ECU not getting the proper signal to fire [ground] them, etc.)
