Default Project log. ED6

Hey guys, thanks for checking in and hanging out while i work on this project. I'll post some pics during the next few days. To keep it short and simple my daily driver has gone down. Compression test was around 0-0-0-0, you get the point.

Car: 1991 Civic STD hatch
Engine: d15 -. D16z6
Has a full exhaust, no cat, 4/2/1 header i made a couple years ago

Got the block, teared it down, and ported the head. It's at the machine shop right now for bore/hone .20 over, mic'd crank. After i get the pistons i'll send thoose out to get coated by calico, maybe send some rods out to get coated as well

http://www.importperformanceparts.net/
has oem/topline pm6/d16a6 pistons for 132$ a set with rings.

for the head, i'm gonna go with a b18b throttlebody, port the intake manifold, port match, cheap valvetrain(supertech?) and a crower "stage 2"cam or such

some questions that i have to dig in,
1) rods.. don't really wanna spend the money on aftermarket rods, oem rods with ar hardware safe for 150whp, b16 rods with crower bushings?? what to do
2) wires, wires, wires... dpfi, to mpfi, obd0 to obd1, p06/p28 with data/chip
3) tranny, keep the 4speed? or rebuild a y8 tranny i have laying around
4) stay frost spec or move to pure fire

turkey day morning, and i'm taking the die grinder to the intake manifold. muhaha

right now i'm working on the tb port, have port 1 and 4 done. About 4" into the port, was thinking about cutting the manifold pendulum and smoothing that out.. but shrug, port matching and smoothing is fine

intake manifold is gone, mocked up an extension and was able to get a good 6" down each runner

hope the engine can get done tomorrow

think i might spend the extra and get the crank knifed as well

stock d-series rods with the arp bolts are fine.

defineatly don't use the 4spd if you're after performance. look for a si or dx 5spd,,the y8 tranny would be nice but think of how you're going to get it to work.

You're not going to make 150whp..no way not with that setup my estimate is 115-120whp with good tuning if you're lucky....if you're using the supertech valvetrain,stage2 cams and porting the head that means you'll need a good 4-1 header,,,,4-2-1 header will only restrict the power

hmm, what are my cam options.. i see exospeed makes a stage 3 cam, crower, if i get the full valvetrain, whats the largest cam i can get.

also, bisimotor header is a option

some updates, i have a knife edged crank, block is honed/bored and decked. Also have some 600rr throttle bodys and a smsp header. Next is a full supertech valvetrain, and crower stage 3 cam.

head just needs a 3 angle valve job, the its off to tranny work, gonna ditch the ed6 4 speed and go with a hybrid.
