Default CRX Thermostat

hey people today my rex just overheated for no reason...............why i don't know but anyways i removed my thermostat and so far it's been doing fine.......... my question is/( is removing the thermostat bad after a certain period of time?) another thing before the car started to overheat is started idling from about 500 rpm to about 1500 rpm over and over. Now that also is fine.........could this be connected in any way?
