Default oil drain bolt rounded

I need some help. I was trying to change my girlfrieds oil and whoever did her last oil change rounded the bolt. I tried banging a 16mm socket on there and that didn't work, the socket just spins around the bolt

Your could try on of those craftsman bolt remover tools or the old school way a cold chisel and a hammer and try and drift the bolt out even a large pair of vise grips might get you enough bite to back the bolt out

i will try vise grips but i was thinking that is must have been way over torqued for it to get rounded, don't you think?

Or some yutz used a standard-sized socket because he was lazy and fucked it up that way.

Agreed.

It's not necessarily rounded due to overtightening it. Simply use vice grips and see where you are from there.

And ask your g/f who changed her oil last and make sure to tell them they suck at life.

One of those sockets with the countersunk spirals inside that are supposed to bite into rounded bolts would work as well.

In addition to the visegrips you could dremel two flat sides onto the rounded bolt head. That way the vicegrips have somewhere to grab onto.

don't do it with a socket try a wrench da closed end what ever comes close to da bolt. den just hammer it in. it works better with da eks cuz da bolt is lined up straight just hammer it in till you could grip da bolt good and when you have it on da bolt try just hammer it a little bit at a time when trying to open it and make sure you hold da wrench down on da bolt with a finger while hammering cuz you dont want it to slip out. dis should do da trick cuz I did dis twice already. and one more thing dont use vice grip cuz dis makes it worst. gud luck

I respect the fact that you're offering advice but why the expletive are you typing like that

Typing "lyke dis" is pointless and ******* annoying

For vise grips.

And do it while the engine is hot. It'll come out easier.

if all else fails dremel a slit in the head of the bolt and use a flathead.

Dont come at it with the flathead perpendicular to the bolt tho- come at it parallel youll get more leverage

so put the side of the flatehead in the slit, not the top
