i am interested in buying a full race gt4088r. i would like to know whats the difference between a regular gt4088r and the full race modified one. is there any spool or horse power gains? does anyone have pictures of how it looks. i found this one picture of the compressor housing while searching.

The modified version will spool a little quicker and not really offer a hp gain. The pic you posted shows the mod, its the venturi that is welded at the inlet of the turbo. Here's a pic of mine, if you need one call us...we are one of the biggest FR dealers out there

not that i doubt, dodge uses inserts on the hx35's for the cummins...but they're widely known as "silencer rings" and i've never hread of a person gaining spool by removing them...but, i'd be inrerested to see this test, for sure

It has been proven to pick up spool and power (only if the turbo is about to run out of juice) all over on the Supraforums.

The silencer ring on the Cummins is an insert meant to block off the wooshing sounds, but the slot near the compressor wheel and the insert itself still has a few holes. This keeps the anti-surge housing fully functional and serves as surge protection. Fullrace's (based on their prototype photos from a while ago) completely eliminates the anti-surge slot and welds a velocity stack insert for maximum effect.

 

That pic above is the full race piece. It still leaves the anti surge slots open, just gives a nice smooth inlet to the inducer.

hmm..interesting. i'll grab one of the dodge's at the farm tommorrow and take off the intake stuff and check it out. i can honestly say that i never have looked, just been told over and over again....nice to know some new info

The slot is also welded up unless FullRace later decided to keep the anti-surge function... The below pic was taken from one of FullRace's turbo and you can see the slot is welded up.

There is an improvement by welding up a stack or just placing an insert (with slot open), but completely removing the anti-surge yields the best effect.

That must have been an early prototype of the full race insert. I've used and installed the full race one, and it does still keep the anti surge slots open and functional.
