i was up at a car meet that we have every sunday or friday
and i saw this ef hatch clean as all hell
but when i looked at his motor he has a sohc turboed but he didn't have a dizzy
he just has coil packs hangin on his fire wall
and he has never had it tuned he can do all his tuneing by a dial

well the advantage is when you have one coil per cylinder, you have a much more powerful spark thru the whole rpm range, because in a single coil with distributor setup, you are discharging the coil 4 times per revolution of the engine (in a 4 cylinder) and with direct ignition coil pack setup, you are only discharging the coil 1 time per engine revolution. This gives a lot more time for the coil to charge giving a more powerful spark. Also it eliminates the need for cap and rotor replacement and moisture issues. It can be done on hondas but the problem is, you still need to keep your distributor because inside the distributor is 3 sensors on most honda mpfi engines. They control fuel injection timing and duration and also ignition timing. So unfortunately they need to stay there...It would be nice if you could completely remove the dizzy but it has to stay...
p.s. sorry for the long explanation
