Oil Pan Drain Plug Stripped!!!! What now?????
Guys I'm not sure if this is place for this question but it said motor stuff so that's why I came here. I just bought a 90 Civic sedan with the 1.5 stocker in it and when I went to change the oil I found that the last person that changed it must have cross threaded the bolt.
I bought a new bolt hoping that was all it was. NOT! The threads in the pan are stripped, too. Does anyone know of a bolt that is made for such situations that is sold or any way to fix it without having to go thru the hassle of replacing the pan?
Thanks for any suggestions!

There is a kit called 'sure seal' that most honda dealers have, where you can tap the pan for an oversized bolt. Then instead of a crush washer, you run an o-ring on the special bolt. but you only tq it to like, 20 ft/lb if that. If your worried about shavings in the pan, just leave the bolt out after you tap it, and pour some freash oil in the engine, just letting it run out the pan to clear out the shavings.
Oh dude! IF that is the case, that would be awesome!
Do you think Carquest or a place like that would have it or would I have to go to the dealer for it?

(1.) Oversized plug with a piggy back plug. Basically its 2 plugs in one. It does take ALOT longer to drain tho.

(2.) Pan Saver (universal)- Pic tells it all. It will make a mess when you drain ur oil since it wont be a controlled stream. Ur hand will also get covered in oil.
