v6 in a 92 prelude? anyone know?
i am looking for a engine swap, but i dont want to do the average h22 swap or even the h23/22 hybrid so i was looking at the J32 from the acura tl's and wondering if anyone ever heard or managed to fit one of those into their car? let me know! thx
honestly ive always wondered just how difficult a v6 prelude would be to pull off. i think it just has to be the right engine. like an accord v6 from the same year as the prelude. i know that accord and preludes has very similar chassis and both used the f22 motor it makes me wonder if the 2.7 from the 94-97 accord or the 3.0 from the 98-02 accords would fit in a prelude without much trouble. until someone tries it out i guess we will never know.
Uhh if im not mistakn the v6 from the 98-02 accords are rated at 200 hp. There for there would be no point in that + the v6 out weighs the v4 h22 = make your car heavy. h22 is very popular because of its vtec capabalities and timing. h22 prelude owns a v6 98-02 accord. Now as far as takn the motor from a TL why would you do that? you basicaly made your prelude a TL .. go buy one instead.

there's no such thing as a "v4".
as far as a k-series in a prelude? that is something i'd want to see more of.

k20 has been done....and is now sigh R.I.P.
as for the J32 or J30, quite pointless. less horspower, heavier than an H22, not to mention there has to be a lot of custom fabrication.

yes a j30 is 200hp stock. but what about torque? its 3.0 liters, that added displacement makes for 195 ft lbs of torque. im not sure at what rpm that torque comes in but seeing as how its not a high revving 4 cylinder im sure it comes in pretty low in the rpms. and thats just stock. low rpm torque may be kind of unfamiliar to those accustomed to H22s and especially B series, but it reigns supreme on the street.

Sure there is. No Honda has one though.
What about the 5 cylinder from the '96-'98 gen TL? Go Volvo style!

umm where have you ever seen a v4? if its 4 cylinder there is either inline configuration or boxer configuration. and there was a 5 cylinder TL??? umm ok.
anyways with the v6 from an accord you have to remember it would be an auto. and we all know auto accords lose against 5 spd h22s

not to mention how many aftermarket pieces are actually made for this. and when was the last time you have heard of a high hp dominating v6 ( other than some of the new 350z's) honestly it would be a lot of work and alot of money for alot of dissapointment.

Just noticed what I typed ... "4 cylinder H22" Get over it and get back to the question. Point is, it would be kind of pointless. I thought of putting an s2000 full engine swap in my lude to get that RW powa, but when you think about it...at what point does a prelude no longer become a prelude?

you ever heard of a little car called a buick grand national? or a skyline? supra? or a PORSCHE? all 6 cylinders.
and the J30 actually has some parts, of course not like most honda 4 cylinders, but you can get some real nice headers, cold air intakes, and comptech makes a supercharger.
i believe it was the acura vigor that had a 5 cylinder motor. i believe the tl was called the vigor back then.

chevy made a camaro with a V4 in it.
I'd like to see the accord v6 swap, maybe it doesn't make tons of power out of the box, buts its prolly got some potential.

those are straight six (other than the gran national which is a v6, but still only had at highest on a stock turbo block of 276 bhp in '87) supra and skyline are both straight 6. and the only V6 porsche is the cayenne the rest are 6 cylinder not v6
